property is nice, room overlooked the river,,,room goes all the way through the back, but not sectioned off,,anyone can do by the back but room is clean, comfy, really cute>> stay there again OH YES!!
Beds, bedding and pillows were very comfortable love the location as it has a huge parking lot and a great restaurant right in the same parking lot. Sitting out front is right on the river and we actually got to see seals and the fish jumping and eagle come in to try to get the fish Great place for four wheeling.
The room was kept well with everything we could need for our stay. The bathroom looked like it was just remodeld, very pretty. The back had outdoor chairs to relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the river. There was an excellent restaurant across the parking lot.
We would recommend this Inn.
This motel is lovely. Beds are great, linens clean and comfy. Staff was friendly and Helen's Restaurant across the parking lot is AMAZING. Plan to make the trip to Machias next time we're in Maine primarily based on this stay.
Everything was pretty good except the water was brown and murky. It wasnt safe to drink, let alone shower in. There should have been a notice up about drinking water, and the water needs to be tested immediately for customer safety.
Wash cloth turned dark brown where the water had run on it and it woukdnt wash out.
Beautiful River view! Fire pit with chairs in grassy area by the river. Clean room, lots of fluffy pillows, very nice proprietor. Convenient to local restaurants and stores.
I travel for work so I stay in a lot of hotels. The Machias River Inn is by far one of my favorites! The cleanliness is unmatched, the rooms are updated and comfortable and the river view is so nice. The hotel has a gift shop that has everything you can think of. Another benefit is the restaurant in the same parking lot. The food was phenomenal! Seriously, look no further for your stay, you will not be disappointed!
Property did not save a first floor room that we requested. As seniors with back and knee problems, having to lug our luggage up the stairs to a second floor room was problematic. The desk clerk seemed more interested in debating with me that I had not made the request than in trying to assist.
Three people were registered. But only two sets of towels weee in the room. That required me to have to go down the stairs, trudge over to the office, pick up more towels and climb back upstairs with my bad knee.
No breakfast was offered at this property and the adjacent restaurant did not open until 11:00 a.m. Checkout time was 10:30, rather early.
Overall, a reasonable stay with a few hiccups. Overpriced for the area, the inconvenience and the lack of amenities.
