Fabulous Spot!

We had the most wonderful stay at Gert and Gus’s place in Margaree Harbour! From the moment we arrived, they gave us such a lovely welcome and were incredibly helpful with suggestions for things to do in the area. The location couldn’t be better -perfect for exploring Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the many gorgeous local beaches (and there are so many to choose from!). We loved using the driving range and taking our morning walk to the river for a float/dip.The place is even better than the photos - with stunning views in every direction: the valley and river on one side, the ocean on the other. Our teenagers (15 and 16) had a fantastic time, too. This place truly made us fall in love with the area, and we will definitely be back. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Cape Breton!

Above and Beyond

Gert and Gus are the most welcoming and helpful hosts! We were so grateful for the gorgeous welcome basket, the contents of which we were able to enjoy for the entirety of our trip. The little cottage is absolutely enchanting, with its beautiful location, perched high on a hill with commanding views from every side. The walk down to the river through the beautiful forest is not to be missed! The stars at night are absolutely beautiful from this location, too. You will have everything that you need, and more, in this idyllic retreat. I’ll highly recommend a stay here, with the best hosts that you could hope to meet!

Gus and Gert made us feel extremely welcome from the off. The cabin was well-equipped, cosy and set in a quiet, idyllic location. We were in striking distance of Inverness beach, the gypsum mine pool, and Baddeck was only a short drive away for the Bell museum. There is so much to see and do here, but the cabin is such a pull that makes it difficult to need to go anywhere else! We will definitely return here.

This property is beautiful! The house is very clean and comes with all the things required to make your stay comfortable. The hosts Gus and Gert are so friendly and helpful. They gave me good directions to their place when I was lost. (Just a tip for anyone going here if you cross a big bridge over the water you went too far and will end up in Cheticamp) The view is stunning! Make sure to look at the stars at night. They are wonderful. We made smores by the fire and had an overall great time.

The couple that own the property were there to welcome us to the separate guest house. VERY welcoming and effusive couple. House was exactly as described and was very clean. A beautiful walk through the woods down to the river. Delightful gift basket on arrival of local goods. Everything you want for a local authentic experience.

Best VRBO experience ever

The property was exactly the kind of property we love. Private, and in your own little paradise. The cabin was very comfortable, and every amenity was super high quality. It had everything you could need. The woodwork in the cabin is beautiful, and I believe Gus did most of it. The attention to detail, and the love that Gus and Gert put into this property gives their guests a beautiful welcome. They truly care. The property is absolutely beautiful. I would not go anywhere else, if you ever go to Cape Breton. 5 stars on every level. Kudos Gus and Gert! They are gems!

Views in all directions.

The property and cottage are just darlin. Just what I would expect from the folks of Cape Breton. They had a beautiful welcome basket waiting for us upon our arrival. We had a lovely walk to the Margaree river from their property. On the way there were chanterelle mushrooms and a lots of NS wild blueberries for the picking. The hosts are warm and welcoming. The weather was "meh" but you take your chances anywhere you go on holidays. Thank you for the lovely time in The Margaree.

Cape Breton Hospitality at its finest.

We were greeted by Gus and Gert on arrival. They are extremely welcoming and go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. The cabin has plenty of room but maintains a cozy atmosphere. The kitchen is well appointed and had everything we needed to cook meals. The full size bbq appeared to be brand new and was great to have. Cannot say enough about the views. Been visiting the area since I was a child and have never seen views of the harbour and the river valley from the same location! Can’t wait to go back!

Simply AMAZING!

My young family had the best time at Gus and Gerts! I can’t say enough good things about our experience. We truly felt at home here - the cabin had everything you would need plus little extras. Their attention to detail was so appreciated, especially with little ones in tow. We cannot wait to come back for not only another stay in the cabin, but to see Gus and Gert. They are two of the nicest people we have met, so responsive and so kind with us and our 2 little kids. Anyone would be lucky to stay at their cabin!
