This home was perfect for our needs, centrally located between Rockville and Turkey Run with many Amish stop n shops just down the road for your farm to table experience. The sauna was the perfect start and ending to our days. We stayed for only 3 nights. With as much as we were able to locally in just two and a half days, we left feeling as if we had a full weeks escape. The home was very easy to settle into upon our arrival.
Very nice home with modern heat and air conditioning. Great interior of the home, modern appliances and a sauna too! Yard and parking was nice. The Turkey Park pass was a nice addition as well. The home is close to the park.
We stayed here for our anniversary to be near Turkey Run and Shades. Very convenient to the parks. The home itself very cozy and well maintained. We were greeted with a sweet anniversary card and some yummy muffins. We definitely enjoyed the peacefulness of the neighborhood as well. I do recommend this home and would rent again when we return to the area.
The host was amazing and accommodated our needs. They were super quick to respond when I had questions. The house was great! It had everything we could possibly need and was conveniently located close to Turkey Run. Will definitely be back.
Weâre surprised with some delicious baked goods on our arrival. Kitchen is stocked with coffee and tea to enjoy the vacation from the first minute. Perfect distance to enjoy Turkey Run State park. Sauna was a plus to wind down the day. Our host Stacie, was lovely and responded quickly. Make sure to check your Vrbo inbox to get your code before arrival. We had to find an internet spot before we could enter the house because I forget to my messages. All in all a perfect spring break getaway!
This is a cozy little home in a small town within a nine minute drive of Turkey Run State park, and nine miles from Shades State Park and Rockville ( which has some quaint specialty and antique stores). The host has it well stocked (above and beyond what most VRBO hosts do) with snacks, condiments, and a coffe bar! Stacie was very responsive to all my texts and questions throughout our stay. It suited my sister and I well for our stay.
It was a nice old house next to a church very quiet. It was a lovely side yard was a last minute thing because we had a funeral in the area and it was nice to find some thing so Clean.
House was fantastic. Amenities were great. Nice having outdoor grill and fire pit for use in the evening. Short drive to Turkey Run State Park and other area attractions. Only negative was the back door and main front door did not have dead bolts that worked. Traveling with a family this made me a bit Leary at night that the only lock securing us were handle locks. Other than this everything else was wonderful.
I don't understand the additional $50 charge. I am having a difficult time navigating on how to contact someone. I wish there would be a phone number or email to communicate with someone directly.
Also my husband found the park pass in his wallet so we sent it to the address of the house
We were in the area to see the numerous covered bridges in Parke county. The location of this property was perfect for this activity. The home is creatively decorated and the remodel ensured good functionality. We will stay at this property again if we return to the area!
This home is the perfect spot if you are hiking the local state parks. Itâs only 6 minutes from Turkey Run. The house is super cute and eclectic and everything we needed and so much more was provided. Highly recommend!
As we drove up to this old farmhouse we were a bit worried as the exterior needs some work. We were pleasantly surprised once inside. The remodel is charming and creative. The home had everything we needed to cook a meal, a comfortable family room with a big TV and comfortable beds. They thought of little touches like a dog lead, dog bed and bowls. The side yard has chairs and a fire pit.
We love historic homes and the windows, woodwork are original and gorgeous!
A few cons which is why I gave this property 4 instead of 5 stars.
* the bedroom with the largest bed has the HVAC system in it with a tri fold divider in front of it. When it kicks on itâs loud and woke us up several times in the night. Unless youâre a sound sleeper, you will not sleep in this room. The next night we slept in the other bedroom which was more quiet.
* the Wi-Fi is slow but we were able to log into Netflix on the TV and watch that with some buffering. We could not work remotely using the Wi-Fi. I think thatâs because weâre in the country.
* The exterior and back of the home are still being renovated. This didnât affect us as we stayed inside the home or in the side yard.
Overall, I recommend this quaint home!
Firstly, the directions took us to the wrong house. It took us to a run down house on the highway with blankets over the windows. We obviously didn't try to go in, instead we drove to the local fure department to call host. She seemed nice and laughed that this happened before. Secondly, we finally found it and it wasn't safe to stay in. The neighbors were outside screaming profanities at kids in the back yard and the doors on the back i couldn't secure. There was also some strange room with access to the poach with strange pants hanging by the door. Outside, it was overgrown and not at all what i expected, especially for the price. Not at all VRBO standards. We left and scrambled to find a place to sleep. I let the host know all of this right away and requested a refund which I still haven't heard back from her regarding. I typically don't leave reviews like this but my hope is it will be addressed before it ruins another vacation.
This was a Midwestern rural vacation stay with warmth of a visit to a relativeâs home and charm that reminds me of simpler times. It was very clean with thoughtful touches in multiple areas of each room. The hostess has thought of everything with treats in the kitchen, popcorn in the living room, books, decks of cards, inviting clean bedding with sheets and linens and towels and toiletries included. Passes to Turkey Run State Park were quite welcome and unexpected as that was our destination for the weekend. It was perfect for our needs, and our pets were welcomed as well.
