We absolutely loved the palace. Enjoyed lounging in the bar and restaurant as well as our room. Also amazing grounds and hiking with great views right outside the door. Lox at breakfast delicious. Our stay couldn’t have been better.

This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed! It was truly a magical location surrounded by enchanted gardens and forest! The architecture of the building was gorgeous. Although we read mixed reviews, we decided to stay at this unique hotel — and we are so happy we did. Upon arriving, we received a warm welcome and a short guided tour explaining the history of the place. Our room was very nice, and the bathroom was very big. We had to work in the evening, and the new Wi-Fi installed a few weeks ago was very strong and perfect for us. The palace is surrounded by a big forest and a garden, with many options for hiking. The restaurant was a bit expensive, but that is totally normal for a 5-star palace hotel restaurant. We enjoyed the food, and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

This historical property is absolutely beautiful and amazing. The age means the rooms are a bit tight, the windows shook in the high winds that night, and I would have loved some conditioner in the room, but other than that everything was great. Wonderful, elegant bar area and the French restaurant was top notch. If you are coming to see Coimbra, drive a little further and stay at Bussaco Palace... very reasonable rates considering where you are staying. Also tour the attached convent for 3 euros more... worth it as well. Highly recommend!

All staff we dealt with from signing in, the lounge and the dining room were amazing. Thank you for all you did to make our stay such a wonderful experience. The palace is definitely out of the way to get to but is worth the drive. We were there in March so the gardens were just beginning to come alive but we’re still impressive. Wifi is not available in the bedrooms but is available in the bar/lounge area.
