My cousin and I decided to take our daughters to Memphis for Spring Break. Never having used VRBO before, we thought this was a good choice within our price range and the pics looked good. The pics were very misleading and close ups. The home is on a corner lot next to an EXTREMELY busy street with a busy train track next to the very busy street. That was not advertised. The home had pet hair everywhere, didnât seem like the floors were swept. There was a half bottle of cheap vodka in the cabinets. There were so many personal items in the bathroom, but the host told me that it was left there in case we needed to use it. Doesnât make much sense to me. Our daughters could not play in the back yard because there was a power line that ran from one end of the backyard to the next door neighborâs house and it hung so low that it would touch the heads of our kids if they had gone out there! It was extremely unsafe if you ask me! I will not be using this location anymore. The living room had a daybed in it, no couch, chair, etc. Also, the dishwasher had the FOULEST smell ever. The front door had to remain locked or it would not stay closed. It was a lot going on and we had to make it work.
I read all of the reviews before booking, but am now convinced they are not real. This is not a top rated location- no way. We were supposed to stay 3 nights, but found somewhere else to stay after the first night. This is an older home, with upgrades thrown in top of the original home. The house slants forward, and the floors squeak throughout. Beds squeak every time you move. Horrible mattress and worse pillows. Kitchen lacking supplies, missing a lot of the basic amenities.
But the reason we left was the noise. The house sits on a very busy road, and at night you consistently hear either the street traffic (which did not stop!), a train (5 total that night) or the planes overhead (3 total). There was no quiet. We could not sleep. Absolutely miserable. The curtains are thin, so the room floods with light from the street lights outside. Difficult when we are used to sleeping in the dark.
Donât stay here. It was the worst night I have had in a loooong time. Look elsewhere.
Wonderful time! All went well. The house is in a great location. Everything we wanted to do was around a15 minute drive. Cooper Young district was within walking distance
We were in town to visit with family for my daughterâs baby shower. The home was very comfy. Location is excellent! Close to downtown area, local restaurants and gas stations. We were minutes away from the liberty bowl and the Childrenâs museum. We didnât want for anything.
The host was very responsive and communicated well. Although in the Cooper Young area it was on the edge up against a busy street with a main train line just on the other side. If you are looking for a clean affordable option in that part of Memphis it works. The cleaning and service fees seemed high given the small nature of the place.
Nice home but the area is a little shady, the home is little the host was nice the beds were a little uncomfortable. Do not park in the street my daughter came to visit me and the neighbor called a tow truck
Overall, the property was clean and the beds were very comfortable. It is in a decent location and easy to get around. The train across the street was a tad noisy but not too bad. There is a lot of flight traffic directly overhead and planes are arriving approximately every 5 minutes. If you are a light sleeper, this may effect your sleep.
The property was clean and check in and out were both very easy. The location was great for going to the zoo and Pink Palace museum. And it was really close to several restaurants. We brought our two pups and we really appreciated the back yard for them to run around. Do note it is right next to a busy road and train tracks. I don't remember ever hearing the train blow its whistle/horn, but just being close to it might be loud for some people. We live in the NC mountains and didn't find it hard to sleep. If you're concerned, just plan to sleep in the smaller bedroom.
It's further from the train and has the rest of the house as a sound buffer. If we plan to go back to Memphis we'd happily stay here again.
The property was just as depicted in the listing. We enjoyed our stay in this charming home. The fenced in backyard was perfect for our pups. Will stay here again.
We traveled with four adults and one dog. This was the last leg of our four-city road trip and the home was very cute. We did run into an issue with the front storm door but communication with the owner, April, was quick and helpful. The backyard was great for our dog as it was completely fenced in and allowed him to get some energy out. The home has two bedrooms and one twin bed that doubles as a couch in the living room. The only recommendation would be to add a few more seating options as we did have to pull in some kitchen chairs into the living room to watch a movie. We really appreciated the washer/dryer and the water got nice and hot (and stayed hot!) for showers. Cooper-Young neighborhood was fun and the house was located in a good central spot for all the things we were there to see and do.
The location was a couple min walk from the Cooper Young District. We really enjoyed the house and the area. I would definitely choose here when we come back to Memphis!!
This is a great location for Cooper Young Fest and enjoying the Cooper Young Neighborhood. House was clean and warm for our Christmas Holiday stay. We enjoyed it very much.
Very cute little house, nicely decorated, has everything you need, there is a train nearby, so if that noise would bother anyone, just FYI, didnât bother us though, had a little issue checking in, but April fixed it quickly, would definitely recommend
