We were informed at check in that the hotel was sold out to National Guatd the rest of the year Hotel and Hotels . Com did not inform us Iâm trying to get refund from Hotels.com no response so far ruined weekend
After confirming my reservation 2 weeks before my stay and even getting an email from hotels.com the day before about checking in; my wife and I get to the hotel at 10:00 PM to find out that they would not honor our reservation as the government took over the hotel for the National Guard in November 15th! We really thought it was a joke at first! How with todayâs technology could something remotely like this ever happen!? The rest was painful and torture on getting resolution :(
The problem here is that I never got to stay in the room. I was there to run the St. Jude's marathon and when I went to check in, I was informed there were no available rooms because the US government had rented all the rooms. This is absolutely FINE and understandable. However, to be told this after driving six hours before I'm to run 26.2 miles for a charity was just completely inconsiderate and poorly handled. An email, in-app message, or call should've been given to anyone affected. I had already paid in full and then had to request the refund through Expedia where they had to verify my claim and told me it could take a number of days to see the refund. I have no idea what, exactly, if I didn't have the disposable income to find another room at one of the most expensive times of year in the city. I'm truly disappointed and often question why I bother with Expedia at all (solely than that I've now been using it for over 15 years). Please do better.
