The home and property are beautiful, the layout is great. We would have had a 5 star if...... the neighbors were not there with a group of 8 teenagers. Music was obnoxious loud and so were the teens. We were not able to enjoy some peace and quiet around the fire like we would have liked, or even our own music. The fishing was fun for my grandson and my son. Big and little were caught, just from the pier. Beautiful clear water. Not a fan of a muck bottom and all the weeds. About the first 8ft is sand and shallow, good for splashing and playing. Private beach was fantastic keeping little one's busy. I was actually impressed with the cleanliness of the home. We tend to respect homes we go to and if they start clean they stay clean. The neighborhood is very peaceful, we just went on the wrong wk. There are Kayaks and floaties. Great amenities. Mercer is a fantastic area!! The issues we did have were very quickly and effortlessly taken care of.
The house was great very spacious. The beach is perfect for little kids nice spot to play in the sand and water. The fishing was amazing off the dock caught so many fish. The only downfall was there was no AC so plan accordingly if you plan on going in the summer. They have fans but that will only do so much when you have humid air coming in. There is a nice breeze from the lake but the house got over 80 and very humid. That would be the only downfall of the property.
Positives :The property is beautiful as well as the lake. There was plenty of room and it was nice having kayaks to use. Many white towels and it was very clean. We would stay again. Negatives: The paddle boat was full of water and leaves. Unfortunately the jet tub wasnât really usable because it had gunk come out of the jets and the water at the rental was not hot. It was warm but not hot.
W the welcoming calls of loons from crystal clear Grand Portage Lake. What a wonderful stay! The cottage was beautifully appointed. The ample outside spaces provided postcard views. Located close to grocery, downtown restaurants and the Heart of Vilas bike trail head, we could not have enjoyed our stay more and look forward to our visiting again soon.
The cabin was in a great location; close to town but in the woods on a nice quiet lake perfect for fishing and kayaking. The property had several perfect outdoor spaces for bonfire and viewing the lake. The kids enjoyed the paddle boats, kayaks, and swimming. Fishing was amazing right off the dock. The beds were comfortable and kitchen was new and clean. We had a great time here and recommend it to anyone traveling up north. Thank you
The property was clean on the inside, but the outside did not seem to be maintained all that well. The lawn needed mowed and there were leaves in the yard and the landscaping from last fall that had not been addressed. The house was clean, but dated and not inviting for the typical vrbos that we have stayed at. This had the appearance of a home that someone had tried to sell and was Vrbo-ing until they can bet a better price. Meanwhile, a property management company seemed to be handling all the transactions. The TV had an Amazon Firestick that had a goofy password that needed to be entered to watch most anything. We had to call vacate and wait online to retrieve that password. For the price, we expected more.
This weekend was a perfect get away. The house was cute and quaint. We felt comfortable and at home while staying here. We have two little boys and they absolutely loved the yard, beach and dock. They spent all day playing in the water and sand letting their imaginations run wild. The lake was perfect for cruises, fishing was hit and miss this weekend but still caught a Northern, large mouth bass and little blue gills.
Would recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice get away weekend with friends and family. Plenty of space for everyone and love that itâs pet friendly. Our dog Emma didnât want to leave, she loved everything just as much as we did.
