The only thing that was needed is hand wash or soap near the bathroom sink as you had to walk around the corner and get body wash for handsoap as there wasn't any :(

No Frills. Only Place to stay Near Dwtn Monter

Monterey Surf Inn is in a great location, close to downtown Monterey, Fishermans Wharf and Cannery Row. Nothing special, clean, roomy, with all the necessities, dorm fridge, small microwave, hair dryer, plenty of towels, and a comfortable bed. For the price and location, you cannot beat this place. If you are looking for a resort, go elsewhere, if you're looking for a place to shower, freshen up, lay down, cook a frozen burrito, keep your clam chowder bowl leftovers refrigerated, then this is the place. Not to mention the incredible coffee machine in the lobby, try the Cafe Latte (amazing). Mike at the front desk always remembers me and he is super friendly. Stayed multiple times and if I ever have a problem, like comes right away and fixes it.

The room is big, clean and has plenty of outlets. Front desk staff was very friendly. I did have a little problem with the hot water running out in the shower though.
