Got the room option with private bathroom very basic but good for what we needed. Felt safe and it was super convenient to everything. Hostel vibes with friendly staff and a restaurant right next door. If you want a place to rest your head between adventures this is it.

I had a lovely stay here for two nights. The dorm is huge and very comfortable. The common areas are clean and well kept. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quite and cozy hostel!

Outbox Inn is very reasonable, clean and very convenient. Lots of shopping and restaurants are just a few steps away. We loved the restaurant next door which gives a discount to people staying at Outbox Inn. Everyone was super friendly and eager to help us. We highly recommend.

Bldg. sits in the back & thus hard to find. Hallways have sudden 5 cm drop that people stumble over. Showers have no room/ledge for shampoo, soap, etc. Rooms & Lobby have no TV, no fan, no AC.

Good stay

Nice place, great staff and very organized. The lobby and common areas are really nice. Pretty loud at night with music from the bar across the street and the howler monkeys in the morning. Would recommend bringing ear plugs.

Ideal location, clean, comfortable, with incredibly helpful staff (shoutout to Alex for answering a million questions and giving us the best recs). Common area is chill with a beautiful kitchen/balcony facing out into the jungle. Beds were super comfortable and felt like sleeping on your own personal stage.

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay or the area. Our room was one of the private rooms, it looked a lot better in the photos. The room itself smelt of mould, and was covered by a sweet fragrance dispenser which made it 10 times worse. The floors where dirty and the bed have you a cold sweat. The only window pointed onto the builders shed, who walked past continuously throughout the day. The service was good, they booked us transport from our pickup point but this transport was dangerous and unacceptable. The man drove unsafe, did not give us our change and when asked in Spanish by the hostel, he said he did not have change after we just gave him 120 USD. We would not return to montverde or this hostel again unfortunately. The food they offer in the restaurant is fab and they have a car who lounges around who is equally as nice!

Staff and ownership were super helpful and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again next time I’m in Santa Elena. Seems like a family/privately run business, and they’re putting in the work to develop a great hostel. Support them, and they’ll keep making their establishment better!
