The Salty Dog Cottage was super cute, cozy, clean, and adorably decorated. Our boys enjoyed fishing in the canal. The yard was perfect with plenty of comfortable seating. The beach across the street was gorgeous. Tons of shells, nice walk to the pier, clean and quaint. We actually fit six people and our dog. Wendy was a wonder host. We booked last minute and it was our first time renting a house. She walked me through every step and was so helpful once we arrived with recommendations. We were very happy that we could include our Golden Retriever, Goldie. She enjoyed her stay and first time to the ocean as well. During our stay we enjoyed the beach at Cherry Grove, Sunset Beach, Myrtle Beach, Barefoot Landing, Ripley’s aquarium, Salty Brews, Old South Bbq, Boardwalk Billy’s, Boulineau's, Golden Griddle, and Lollipop candy and arcade. 12/10! Absolutely recommend!Wendy and Mark are fantastic hosts and they have a beautiful cottage, with everything you’ll need! We traveled far and were relieved to have the best welcome baskets for our girls, beach gear, and wonderful kitchen and living space. The Carolina room was so nice at night. It’s quiet and beautiful area, not far from the action of Myrtle! Mark and Wendy are the nicest and we loved staying with them! We will be back again!

Perfect Vacation

The cottage was just as described in the listing- Wendy thought of everything one could need for a beach vacation! She was so kind, easy to work with, and an excellent communicator. We loved being steps from the beach, and we appreciated all the touches that made us feel at home. It was the first time traveling with our dog, and Wendy made sure The Salty Dog Cottage was truly a vacation for us and our pup!

Perfect Getaway

We truly loved our stay at this property. First, the hosts are amazing. Communication ahead of stay was excellent and they are so gracious- made sure our visit was worry-free and had everything we needed to relax. Enjoyed using their beach gear and the walk to beautiful beach was so easy. Property is clean with a great view of the inlet and a really good location for a quiet stay. My family and I had a great time, it was right across the street from the beach. The cottage was so neat and comfortable with a fully functioning kitchen which was very convenient having a 2yr old. Would definitely stay again.

This was hands down one of the best decisions we made for vacationing as a family. My boys loved being able to fish from the backyard first thing every morning. The house is so cute. The amenities are perfect for families and couple alike. Wendy is the most gracious property manager. The area is so nice, and the house is the perfect walk to the beach. The Carolina room was perfect for morning bowls of cereal and a perfect spot to play board games with the kids. You won’t regret this perfect house and location for vacation!

Cute as a button and felt like home away from home! Wendy and Mark were very gracious hosts — never intrusive, but always there if you need them! Loved being canal front and also only steps from the beach. Home was clean and well stocked. The other really nice thing is that there was plenty of comfortable seating for everyone, something that is lacking in many VRBO homes

One of the cleanest places I’ve stayed, everything was spotless and ready for us when we arrived! Wendy was very friendly and communicated everything we needed to know and had great recommendations. Wendy and Mark could not have been more welcoming!Although we were well aware, people looking at The Salty Dog need to understand that this listing is for the bottom level of the cottage. It is cozy, well decorated and very clean! Loved our stay!!

Our stay was incredible. The property was even more charming than the photos. The backyard with the fire pit and dock with grill and table seating was a getaway oasis. In this day and age we so appreciate owners who understand that dogs are part of our family and we don't want to leave them behind when we travel. We have family in Little River and have been searching for years for someplace we could stay with our dogs that was just like home and we found it! We will be staying here every time we travel to visit our family. Thank you once again for a wonderful stay.

The Best Place in Cherry Grove

We have always wanted to take our 2 dogs to the beach so when we decided to celebrate our 30 yr. wedding anniversary at the beach, we looked for a place that would allow dogs. And I’m here to tell you we found the absolute best place - the Salty Dog Cottage. The owners Wendy & Mark were so friendly and helpful and they truly made our stay perfect! From the fresh flowers and dog treats when we entered the cottage, to the book on the counter explaining how everything worked and where everything is. It was so clean and decorated so pretty, Wendy also gave great recommendations for places to eat and go in the area - she truly thought of everything. We have been coming to Myrtle Beach since the mid 80’s and this was our first stay in Cherry Grove. It quickly became our favorite area - we cannot wait to go back. I would highly recommend staying at the Salty Dog Cottage - literally the best cottage we ever rented from and we look forward to staying there in the future. We loved our stay there so much - truly the best!

Cozy Downstairs Cottage

We enjoyed a long weekend at the Salty Dog Cottage. The host and hostess have thought of everything you may need during you stay. The location was great! Pretty view of the inlet and just a short walk accross the street to the ocean. Close to restaurants and grocery store. We enjoyed our time and would recommend this property!

My wife and I spent 3 days at The Salty Dog Cottage this week with our dog, Livie. Wendy and Mark are great hosts! Communication is easy and always friendly. This is a well appointed space, clean, relaxing and very pet friendly!

short walk to beach

We very much loved the location-a short walk to the beach and the dog friendliness of this rental. Wendy, the owner, was responsive and thought of nice extras- like welcome snacks for the humans and adults. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked for cooking meals and the porch and small grassy area was lovely. We enjoyed sitting by the propane firepit and used the Weber grill. The information notebook was helpful to find nice restaurants closeby. We picked this unit for its ability to hold six adults. One in our party was not able to attend so we had five adults. It was a tight squeeze. One of the adults tried to sleep on the fold out sofa and found it very uncomfortable. We also found the strong smell of the plug in air fresheners in parts of unit overwhelming and unpleasant. The owners live upstairs and the unit is not sound proof. You can hear walking and their dogs barking. This didn’t bother us, but renters should know this information. Overall, we had a very nice visit and would recommend, especially if you are looking for a dog friendly space close to the beach. up.
