Carpet was gross, I usually like to be bare foot and i had to wear my shoes as the carpet felt gross. I did see a couple of cockroaches in the kitchen and bathroom but that happens in Maui.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. It has a great view of the ocean, a clean pool, and access to a great beach for the kids. I spent a lot of time on the balcony watching the whales and sunsets.The property wasn't quite ready for us when we checked in, even though we were there way past check-in time. We didn't get access to the wifi and other things because of this. The ceiling fan also broke during our stay, where one of the blades fell off. I would rate this property as excellent if they updated it from the 80s. Valerie the property manager did help us out once the fan broke and she got us the information about the wifi.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a lovely location, right next to a park and across the street from the local Farmers' Market which is there on M, W, and Friday. Within walking distance to local shops and eateries. Pool is good size and there is a small beach if you like to sit in the sand, though when tide comes in the beach is unavailable. Views differ depending on whether you are parkside or ocean front. Small complex, very family oriented with some permanent residents.

Beautiful view, loved breakfast on the lanai every morning with such a wonderful view. The patio and pool are very clean and perfect for days you just want to read and relax. Hale kai is situated between a small pleasant beach and a very nice public park: all vacation options are available. The Unit itself is very comfortable, nice comfy bed, good sized bath and pretty well equipped kitchen and relaxing living room. used the blender every day! We would love to stay here again. Only suggestions, although the place is clean, it could use a "deep clean" to get to the mouldings, cabinets etc. Mgt is great, friendly and on top of things. We didn't have a spatula and one was supplied immediately. Very impressed. Grounds are well maintained and washer/dryer/recycling on site!

A Little Piece of Paradise

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our 3rd Stay at Hale Kai and it continues to be a great choice for us. You can't get much closer to the ocean. With a natural reef out front for snorkeling, a private sandy beach shared by the property next door and an easy walk to the start of the Kannapali Boardwalk, the location is perfect. There is a great fish shop just down the road as well as Times Supermarket - an easy walk. And of course the turtles out front that occasionally sun on the beach just make it perfect. The unit itself is in good shape, lots of closest space and a dresser so you can unpack your suitcase as well as a dresser in the living room should you have people sleeping on the pull out couch - then they too can unpack their belongs. Have stayed in another unit that was full of artificial palm trees and plants that took up room in the unit, 218 is clutter free so it feels like you have more space. Kitchen had everything we need except for a flipper for pancakes or the grill, but that was easily rectified by borrowing from the neighbor who had 2 and no tea pot. As well it would have been nice to have a few plastic plates for taking snacks to the pool, but that is minor. Eating every meal with an unobstructed view of the ocean, you can't beat it. Wifi worked well. Nice having a laundry room on site. Grounds are well taken care of as is the pool. Two grills were well used and I was happy to see they were cleaned every morning. The office staff were great. I first stayed here in 1978 and I love it still. Every unit at Hale Kai is individually owned so check reviews, to be sure your unit will provide you with the experience you want. 218 was perfect for our vacation and we'll be back.

Everything seems very well kept up with, everything worked as it should have. No problems at all. The view from the lanai is priceless. If I had to name anything bad: the noise from the street in the back can sometimes be a little annoying in the morning when you want to sleep in, but maybe we're just not used to it. We always could sleep. All in all: for this price we definitely would recommend it to a friend!
