This is a splendid Ryokan, authentic (all-wood structure), clean, spacious. The best I had in 3 weeks travel around the Kansai-Tokyo area. Very helpful staff when present in the Ryokan.
A little bit far though from the Kintetsu-Nara station (in particular with luggages) and off restaurants. Most of it, but this is not a problem of the Ryokan itself, the issue are the other guests who don't understant what a wooden structure and thin paper panels are and act up to very late as if they were in a bunker. A continuous presence of some staff at night during high season may allow to mitigate unproprer guests behavior. Or a very clear written statement and explanation handed out when checkin-in in several of the main touristic languages asking guests to be as discrete as monks meditating (that should avoid extra costs that would anyway put on the room prices if hiring a night guard...) after 10pm. I definitely recommend it.
