When we first arrived it was 10pm. We tried checking in and the check in wouldnât let us. So we had to call the hotel. We sat on the phone for 35 minutes waiting for someone to answer. When they finally did they kept transferring us. After another 30 minutes someone finally fixed our check in instructions. We made it to the room. We paid for a balcony studio, we were not given that. We went to the bathroom and there were multiple dirty tooth picks on the floor. Next day I contacted the hotel (there is no front desk) to get my room changed bc it was dirty and we didnât receive a balcony room. They said they moved our rooms to what we asked for. I went down to the room and it was the same exact room still no balcony but this room was A LOT COLDER. (They donât have heat). So I went back up to our original room and called them again letting them know I wouldnât be staying in that room, due to seeing a few bugs, no heat, and still no balcony. They said okay. Next day came we had 2 couples open our door with the code the hotel provided them. We had room service come to our door multiple times saying that we were supposed to leave that day but our check out was the 30th.. meanwhile this was the 28th.. I contacted hotel again. To see if we can get our balcony we paid for. They told us our booking doesnât say balcony (this is bc they switched our rooms) I sent them a screen shot of my original booking before they changed it and they STILL never gave us our balcony room.
Did not get the two rooms that I requested. Check in by phone took over 45 minutes, we spoke with four other groups that went through the same process we did.
Air conditioner was great, property manager was delightful. Housekeeping was very nice.
Loved everything except check in . When we arrived it kept saying check in unavailable.we has to ring a number which put you through every place but new Orleans so has to pick one. Very helpful and got it sorted. Very pleasant stay it's just two mins from French quarter so quiet .had all amenities and a overall pleasant stay
3 stars for the place being clean and as showed on the picture, however, to check in into this place was very challenging. Check in was at 4 and it took me an hour past check in time to get into my room. I was provided a dozen of different codes for the entrance door and my room door and non of them worked. Keep in mind the area immediately by the entrance door is NOT safe. Homeless people were lying right there by the door and lots of loitering. They finally sent a person who stated the batteries in the door died so he had to change them. It was at 4:53pm. If you travel as a group and must have an appointment it might be an option but i personally will not stay here again.
Free cleaning after 30 days if you stay more than 45 days sounds just as absurd reading it as it does typing it. Their terms and conditions mention a background check after they beg for ID. The luggage storage code didn't work and it took an hour of calling and texting both Hector and the other number to find out some idiot changed the luggage storage number and didn't update the check in process ??? Hector (property manager) responded later that night even though this all transpired around 2pm!
Quiet the first night, loud the second night. There was a pitbull barking in the hallway. Yelling in the hallway. People were sitting on the floor in the halls. They put me in the back with my balcony overlooking a dusty parking lot. The apartments are pretty, decently clean but DUSTY. The beds are COMFY. Medium firmness. Pillows are good but the cases kept slipping off. Free washer and dryer and I like how they offer detergent and bleach.
Very stingy with the AC at times! They control the temperature. The temperature randomly fluctuates. Sometimes itâs 67°, sometimes it's as high as 76°. I had it set to 70° at all time. Sometimes I wouldnât hear the air at all. One night I woke up completely drenched in sweat and looked at the thermostat and it was 76°! I think that they cut off the AC at night. Literally donât hear a thing when I wake up in the middle of the night. I just tinker with the thermostat cutting the fan on and off until a little bit of air starts to trickle.
When we got to our rooms to shower, there were no wash clothes. The kiosk for extra stuff was never filled.
Pulled back the covers to spray everything down, and our bed was filled will dirt and hair follicles! Not acceptable
loved how walkable everything was. I enjoyed that this wasnât the typical commercial hotel with a loud busy lobby and lots of children running around. The balconies were nice and spacious but lacked good views (blame the other buildings it is next to)
I will start this review off by saying the room was nice walking in. But once we got settled we noticed mold in the bathroom, bed rails were thin wooden sticks that broke as soon as we laid on the bed. Would NOT recommend if you are over 170lbs . Customer service was TERRIBLE. I booked for early check in which was $62 and was not able to check in early. There were gnats flying everywhere. The website shows a lobby area with a virtual host, but in reality there was no lobby at this location (Canal St). Then to top it off management did not assist or provide any accommodations once they were called, and on the last day the fire alarm went off for 2.5 hours at 5am! Upon calling to speak with management again, I was forced to explain my situation with one of the agents and after explaining everything I was then told I have to wait 24-48 hours before I could even speak with management and there was nothing they could do for me. Would NOT recommend this stay and wouldnât wish this on anyone. Also, it rained everyday that we were there and we had to carry our luggage around because we couldnât get access to the building, something that was asked about and confirmed before travel.
Roami at Canal Quarters was the perfect home away from home for us. The apartment was exactly as pictured, our balcony was huge and the common areas were well kept. Everything was easily accessible from the property and we felt it was much more comfortable than staying at a hotel.
We did encounter a couple of items that werenât cleaned properly before we arrived but that didnât dampen our experience. It appeared that the last guests left dirty pans placed in the cabinets and a couple of towels were stained. Thankfully the laundry room was right across the hall and laundry supplies were provided, therefore we easily washed the towels for peace of mind. The was also an instance where a gentleman was attempting to get into our room with a code but we believe that he was mistakenly at the wrong door.
Canal Street is very busy and vibrant, so with that comes tons of noise. The noise didnât bother us at all because itâs New Orleans, but if youâre sensitive to sound I would highly suggest requesting a room at the back of the property. Also, given the location on the end of Canal Street I personally wouldnât suggest this location for solo travel. Overall, I would recommend Roami at Canal Quarters and would certainly stay again.
