Ameritiania was in a great neighborhood with theatres and amenities nearby. It was easy to catch a cab or subway. But the building is dated with wallpaper and paint pealing in obvious places and the carpet coming undone here and there. 'city view' means you look at brick tin the building three feet from your window. Hmmm.

Disappointing experience

The room was uninviting and dated. The air conditioning was very noisy. With the result, we had to open the window. With the noise from the street, difficult to sleep. The security safe is located on the floor in a closet. You have to get down on your hands and knees to open and close the safe door. I booked this hotel on the good reviews on this site. I can't agree. It looks great from the exterior. But that's were it ends. Otherwise. The staff were very helpful. Especially the security staff on the hotel entrance.

much less than expected

Room was too small for size of king bed. Heating/coolng system didn't work. Unit had to be unplugged to insure not automatically turning on. Sound from other heat/cool units came in making it hard to sleep. Sink drain was very slow. Bathroom door was peeling at base and huge mirror was not fixed to the wall. One wash cloth for two people. Window view was air shaft. No breakfast food besides coffee.

Deon's 44th Birthday Trip to NYC

I must say, The Ameritania was absolutely gorgeous. The staff was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed in a timely fashion. It was Deon's 44th birthday and the staff left him birthday gifts in the room for our arrival. It was very clean and they even upgraded our room at no additional charge. If you are interested in visiting NYC near Time Square, this is the place to stay!!!
