Dismal and worn

Worn, tattered and dismal. Dingy and dated. The absolute worst 'free' breakfast ever. No cream, no milk, no napkins and picked over scraps of food. I normally like Hampton inns. This is the worst i have ever seen.

Great location to shop and visit Bryant Park and the Empire State Building. Lots of good restaurants nearby as well as coffee shops. The rooms ares small and basic but adequate. Nothing fancy. Desk service was also basic. U asked for someone to look at my toilet as it needed to be flushed twice to complete the task. No one ever came- no follow up. The highlight was the free breakfast! I’m very picky so I was shocked to see all the items available. Fresh fruit, oatmeal, fresh made waffles, eggs, toast, sausage, yogurt , tea and coffee.

They charged me for two bottles of water that we did not consume. In addition, the toilet became clogged on four separate occasions. Although maintenance staff came each time to resolve the issue, the problem persisted throughout our stay until check-out. Because my claim went unanswered, I decided to give them two stars.

Pretty Good!

Breakfast is included for free, which consists of a hot buffet, toast, waffle making machine, fruit, coffees, fruit juices. They change the hot food every day. The breakfast service can be chaotic, especially at the weekend, and you can struggle to find a table. The queue for the waffle maker can be long too. They also don’t have normal English tea bags either at breakfast or in the rooms. The rooms are clean but quite dated in their decor. The bed is comfortable. The air conditioning unit is quite noisy but it didn’t stop me from sleeping (and I’m a light sleeper!). There was no noise from the street. The staff are generally helpful, but not always particularly happy or cheerful! The location is ideal. 3 minutes from Penn Station which connects to Jamaica Station via LIRR, from there the AirTrain goes direct to JFK Terminals. Really cheap to transfer from airport, very little walking involved, plenty of seats on the LIRR trains which are all air conditioned (very welcome in the New York heat and humidity in the summer!). You can easily walk to Time Square, Empire State etc which are all within a 10-15 minute walk. If you like to walk you can get to lower Manhattan in about an hour or so walk, or similarly uptown to Central Park. Overall, for the price, it is a clean hotel with a nice free breakfast, and a great central location with easy access to the Subway and LIRR transport systems. I would stay there again.

The room is regular / good, the breakfast is ok, no the best thing in the world but fine, the thing that I like the most was the ubication, I took the MTA all days and there is a station 3 street away and it looks to be one of the main stations because almost all the subways and buses leave us there

staff was on it. the last night, the air conditioner unit was very loud, and wouldnt set on low, so it was either too cold or off. on the last night it wouldnt work at all, didnt feel like trying to get it fixed at midnight when we had to get up at 430 for an early flight, so just suffered with a stuffy room.
