The front desk staff was friendly, the lobby and room were attractive and clean. There was a window a/c in our room which let in all street noise which was incredibly loud at different times during the night....garbage trucks, people screaming. Be prepared with ear plugs...we weren't!

Hotel was a great base. Very near Time Square, theatre region and subways. The hotel was very clean and the beds were so comfortable . There is a deli right next door with cold and hot food, and fantastic fresh fruit . The staff were amazing and helpful at the hotel. Probably not for you if you want everything in your hotel, but perfect as a place to shower and sleep

Related to the price, I would have expected newer mattress, better quality air dryer in the room and body care products. Overall good experience!

Clean but noisy

The room was clean but basic and dated. The noise level was problematic. We dealt with a lot of noise from the pipes every time anyone used the bathrooms above us. One of two elevators was broken and the one still working took forever. The location was great though.

The property is very old. The location is fantastic. The building needs a lot of maint. No coffee or fridge in room. Tiny TV Elevator out of order. Second elevator always used by cleaning staff with BIG cart Elevator fits about 4 people with no luggage

Basic room-excellent location & very clean. Staff were helpful. We were doing a Broadway-centric trip. Perfect location for that. All theaters in walkable distance. Right next door was a store with hot & cold bars & healthy items as well. Quality &prices were great. My only cons on this property were 1 elevator out of order & the other one extremely slow. Would stay there again, no doubt!

This hotel is small, which is ok. It advertised a bar and when I asked when the bar would be open I was told “that’s just a decoration”. They have 2 elevators and one was broken. We had to take the stairs 2 days we were there or waiting and waiting for a free one. We checked out 1.5 hours before we needed to hoping to get an elevator no luck. We had to carry our luggage down 5 flights and that is not easy for my partner who has had 2 hip replacement and we are Seniors. We will not stay there again.

Older hotel, but still very solid. The people at the first desk were very friendly and engaging. Our room faced the street, so there was a lot of noise filtering from the outside including some guy on a bicycle cab who had the music blasting for hours. That would truly be the only knock I would put on this place and/or suggest that you request an inner room.

Room was terrible No working blind (overlooking street) - engineering looked at it and said it’s broken (has been for some time). Sound came in though box air conditioner facing road so very noisey Gap under door so could hear other people coming/going Low shower pressure (like London) Only hot water sometimes Choose due to location which was good

We have been staying here for over 10 years and is the only place we will stay in NYC. There is a deli next door and in the heart of everything. The staff is exceptional.

This is an older building but very charming, clean, welcoming and a terrific location. Subway and bus options were within a block or two and who wants to be on top of a subway entrance anyway? I was very pleased with my room. It was spotless, had a firm and comfortable mattress and the bathroom was sizable. I was across from the elevator but it was very quiet at night and I am a light sleeper. While there is no coffee maker in the room, stepping outside, there was a huge selection of coffee spots from the organic kind to street vendors. I went with a street vendor and it was a great cup of coffee! As an X-NYC resident who knows my way around I heartily recommend this hotel if you aren't as familiar with the city, or even if you are, and just don't want to feel like a tourist. It's value and location were very pleasing.

The room was very small. The air conditioning wasn't working properly. The iron was not working properly it burn my clothes you can even read the types of material to iron they are wash off or is just to old.

I love this little hotel primarily because of its proximity to the Broadway plays, most of which are a ten minute walk away. The clerk at hotel check-in did not have a hospitable spirit, but he was efficient --took care of the business, nothing else - no pleasantries, no niceties. One of the 2 elevators was not working. So there were long waits for the elevator to arrive with a full hotel and 8 floors to service. Our room was impeccable -crisp linen, bright bathroom, fluffy towels - everything clean and spotless. I was very impressed with the natural wood detail. It even had a non working fireplace and mantle. For my last stay, the room I had was older with older fixtures. But this room looks like it was recently refurbished. In spite of the elevator and the front desk person, I gave them 5 stars across-the-board because it's still a lovely place to stop, rest and reset. I only come for the theater or shopping, not to hang out in my room, so it's perfect and I'll be back.
