House was very clean, bedrooms were a very good size and kitchen was fully equipped. It’s located in a nice area within walking distance to Palm Beach and restaurants. The pool was great for the kids and in the afternoon it was partially shaded. Perfect for them staying out of the sun from being at the beach in the morning.The property managers Marvelin and Rolando were excellent. We were met on arrival and were explained everything about the property.

Awesome home in Aruba

We had an amazing vacation. This house was perfect in all it's amenities and space for our family of 8. Loved the table on the front porch, having a private pool was great and it felt like home. Dr. Riley was an awesome host and very helpful with a medical issue for my brother soon after we arrived. We will be back!!

Great for big group. On the best part of the island.

We chose this property because we had 11 adults and 1 baby and wanted everyone to have a bed. We had a terrific week. We spent a bunch of time outside in the multiple seating areas around the pool. The owners are friendly, responsive, and helpful. I was a little nervous because the property allows smoking outside and a couple in my party are highly sensitive to those smells. There was no hint of a smoke smells anywhere. Thanks for letting us use your house for a terrific and memorable week in a beautiful place.

The Fortress was very spacious & a very private setting/yard! 10- minute walk to the beach & restaurant/bars/shopping The property is a little old & we experienced several system breakdowns TV, Internet, sewage smells etc… the owner, Mgmt contact, maintenance were very responsive & for the most part fixed things in a timely manner! We would stay there again, we just booked it wrong as we all stayed different l Number of days… so cost us more…but that’s on us! Thanks John L

A great house!

We rented this house for vacation (there were 7 of us, ages 14 to 52). In surveying our family, they said that this was the best family vacation that we have ever taken. The location is great. We could walk to get to the beach or lounge by the pool. The pool was great and was bigger than we expected. Anything that you could want to do is a short walk from the home--restaurants, bars, water sports, etc. The grocery store was even just a few blocks away. The rooms were spacious and clean. We were also able to use the two "apartments" to give everyone plenty of space. Every morning I made coffee in our room and walked out onto the beautiful balcony to read a book! The owner stopped in, to check on us and was hospitable and gracious. We highly recommend the house.

The best house for big families

It has been a week since we left Aruba but still miss the island and especially the house. From the booking time I had e great experience with Mr. Riley. He replies back on time with all information I asked for and some times also extra he thought could help out. Our group was consisting of 8 adults and 3 children between the ages of 5 and 55. The children loved the pool and we as teenagers spend alot of time in the tub. The house features were perfect for every age and it's really romantic at night for couples. The location of the house was perfect! Close to the well known high rise area. Restaurants, night club, beaches and shoping mall were blocks away. The neighborhood is so quit that within hours you will feel at home. I definitely recommend the house for every big family and it doesn't matter what type of person you are the features of the house will fit to anyone.

Supposedly a great house (long time ago) but in desperate need of updates and repairs, it just not rentable in this condition. Ant infestation in rooms, cockroaches in kitchen, and on top of it, unserviced septic tank that overfilled, and started returning stuff even through shower drains. It was fixed next day. On top of it, all the yard landscape reuses septic liquid for watering backyard plants, and the smell is overwhelming. We had to ask for everything that was supposed to be included with the house: hand and face towels, jacuzzi was cold-we waited till next day propane delivery, tried grilling, again, no propane till next day, house is advertised that it sleeps 10, yet, there’s total of 8 forks in the kitchen, and hardly any pots and pans for cooking. In addition, water heater kept shutting off and we’ve showered mostly with cold water. Add to that busted rattan bed by the pool covered with rubber mat that luckily no one fell through. I was on the phone with property manager almost daily. We’re not complainers, but actually very easy going family, and we’ve never posted a review with anything but a 5 star. This one would be no exception if there was couple of minor things wrong, but once our long awaited family vacation was turned into bunch of daily frustrations, we had to post a negative one. Again, with some solid upgrades and once well stocked with everything a rental house needs, this would again be a prime spot. House layout is great, and so is the location.

A Home Away from Home

Aruba Fortress is located in a quiet peaceful neighborhood. But, so close to Palm Beach, High Rise Hotels, & Palm Beach Mall. When we arrived Helen who is so helpful & sweet showed us around the lovely house. Had a fruit basket waiting for us in the fridge, also some bottled water, juice & supplies formour first mornings breakfast. Even thenowner stopped by one morning to check on us to make sure we had everything that we needed. There are 2 air conditioned bedrooms on the main floor, one with an aquatic theme. A spacious bathroom with a large jacuzzi tub. The second floor has a sitting area in the loft outside of the air conditioned Master Suite which is larger than most hotel rooms. Extra large walk in closet, Master bath & a sofa to relax on. There is a roomy balcony off the master suite with a table &'chairs to seat 6 comfortably. The balcony overlooks the pool & jacuzzi which is enclosed & very private. There are also a set of stairs that lead from the balcony to the pool area. There are shaded lounge chairs, comfy seating with a large umbrella to relax when you need a break from the bright Aruba sun. The patio off the living room has comfortable seating with a charcoal grill & they even supplied us with a new bag of charcoal & lighter fluid. The living room has a 2 story cathedral ceiling, & a crescent shaped sofa to enjoy the flat screen tv from. The house also has wifi throughout. We were so comfortable & relaxed there it was just like being in our own home. There is a wooden Dinng room table with seating for at least 6. The kitchen is equipped with full size fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, & washer & dryer. Dishes, pots, pans, silverware, etc are also supplied. Recently heard from the owner that there are making some new changes & upgrades to the house, so check back for the new pics. Can't wait to go back!!

Fantastic Vacation Home in Aruba!

The home was as described. We had 9 people and plenty of beds and baths to make the entire vacation pleasant. The daily maid service was included, and was a nice change of pace from a typical rental home, allowing us to enjoy our trip without a lot of cleanups from meals, baths, etc. The swimming pool and hottub were fantastic and saw much use after the hot sightseeing and beach weather! All appliances worked well, and the washer/dryer were very handy and allowed us to pack lightly. Internet worked pretty well, and was only down due to the outside cable company's issues, and then only a few times. The house was situated only a 5 minute walk to Palm Beach shopping and beaches, Moomba Beach, and the many varied watersports companies. It came with a large cooler and beach chairs, towels, etc. that made our frequent trips to the beach much easier and enjoyable. Dr. Riley also arranged rental cars for us, which I would highly suggest as they are priced under the typical price for them in Aruba at the airport. Taking taxis with 9 people and their luggage was definitely the way to go, as the cars there are small and couldn't handle the luggage and the people without multiple trips to the airport. The cars he provided were ready and waiting for us in the closed garage at the house. There were only a few problems that Dr. Riley resolved nearly instantly after we notified him of them. One AC unit went out completely, and he had a completely new unit installed and made functional while we were out at the beach. Other issues were minor and were taken care of immediately by Dr. Riley. He was very easy going and ultraresponsive to our needs. Overall, I would highly recommend this home for larger groups or families, including those with small children. The price, car provisioning, and the quick and courteous service provided by Dr. Riley and Helen to any issues we found make this a property I will rent again on our next trip to Aruba! A disappointing week

There were nothing but problems from the first day. The property manager sent a representative to meet our first person. She showed a few things about the property, but there were no written instructions. The grill was filthy, and didn’t work till the third day when someone came to fix it. Some of the hot and cold faucets were backwards - so we thought two of the rooms didn’t have hot water. The propane ran out, and the spa wasn’t working till the sixth night. The wifi and tv didn’t work in the two backyard bedrooms for the first few days. We couldn’t figure out how to work the stove. The AC in the dining room didn’t work at all. With the living room AC down the dining room was bearable, but the living room was too cold for anyone to use it. The AC didn’t reach the kitchen at all. We couldn’t reach the property manager by phone. He told us there was no one to contact after 6PM. I had to send messages through VRBO to get help. Each time someone answered me promptly, but they had major problems fixing all the issues, and sometimes didn’t send anyone till the end of the day. Two or three nights there was a worker at the house till 9PM. The workers would say we’ll be back at 8:30 tomorrow - then not show up till after six, or the next day. All the beds, except the two twins in the small main floor bedroom, were way too firm and uncomfortable. The outside furniture is shabby, broken pieces sticking out. One dining room chair isn’t stable, almost collapsing when someone sat in it. Much of the inside furniture is beat up and broken. The worst was on the 4th (or was it 5th?) day when it poured for hours. We woke up to leaks all over the dining room, kitchen and laundry room. The first person up that morning slipped on the wet tile floors - luckily she was able to grab onto something and keep herself from falling. VRBO told us to vacate the property and find new lodging. But they said we had to use Expedia, and we had to keep costs close to what we spent on this house if we wanted to be reimbursed. It was impossible to find anything comparable, and at that point most of our complaints had been addressed. We decided to stay, the rain stopped, the sun came out, and it seemed we’d be better off just staying. The owner gave us a 25% refund. This didn’t come close to covering the time we lost - but we were so tired of the whole thing we said ok. The property needs to be cleaned, better maintained, and clear instructions provided.

Aruba vacation

This house was the prefect for our large family. We had 10 people and had plenty of bedrooms and beds. Quick walk to the beach, restaurants, shopping and the beach bar for daily happy hour. Had a few minor hiccups that the property managers handled ASAP. Cannot say enough good things about them. The pool was awesome and great time hanging in there in the afternoons.

Cabana air conditioning didn’t work. We called and they fixed it. But it smelled of mildew and we couldn’t use those bedrooms. Poolside jacuzzi didn’t work. Telephone didn’t work. Ideal Location

House was clean, had plenty of space, and was as described in the description. You couldn't ask for a better location. Walking distance to the resort area with all the restaurants and the beach - only needed a taxi to and from the airport. Would stay here again.

High School Grad/Family Vaction

We took 10 people (mix of family and friends) to aduba for a week to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation. The space was perfect for the group and the location was amazing. Easy communication with the host. Only issue we had all week was spotty internet if everyone was Googling what to do next or what music to play at the same time...

House was great, clean and well maintained. The outdoor space was excellent, lots of shaded sitting areas and hammocks. The pool and connected jacuzzi are in an area of the outdoor space that can be closed off with gates if needed for young children.

property is so so. cold water showers, broken toilet seat in downstairs master suite, pool/hot tub tile is scaled and dirty. cockroaches in upstairs master suite and outside apartment has a small pest infestation. cannot leave drinking glasses on counters as they become full of little bugs.. thats the property review. THE real issue is the shady owner. prior to coming to aruba, one of the couples could not make the trip due to the covid 19 pandemic, we spoke to the owner before arriving and he promised to refund their portion of the rental, no questions asked due to the circumstances. the other 3 couples did make the trip to aruba and his villa. as the outbreak became full blown, we were advised to leave early before the airport shut down. we spoke to the owner in person and followed up with facebook messenger messages where the owner , promised to refund a portion of our rental for the 3 nights we did not stay. i saved the messages, and can share if you would like to see them. once we returned to the states, i contacted the owner a week after to inquire the status of the refund. he commented he was so busy with this pandemic he hasn't had time, and that vrbo did not disperse the money to his account yet so he "can't refund what he hasn't received yet". three weeks later i contacted him again and he now states it is not his responsibility to refund anything, its vrbo's responsibility to refund the FULL portion. i have spoken to vrbo multiple times, they (VRBO) have refunded the "service fee" , they have dispersed the money into the owners account and it is expected that (the owner) refund the partial portion of the unused rental costs. THIS IS VRBO'S POLICY FROM THEIR WEBSITE: "Request a refund: We are strongly encouraging property owners and managers to issue at least a partial refund for situations in which a flexible credit can not be accommodated. Please contact the owner or property manager to discuss cancellation and refund options. Although they are not obligated to provide a refund beyond the terms of the rental agreement, those who do not offer flexibility are subject to penalties in our marketplace." The owner said "i will not be intimidated by their penalitie policy". Its a shame an owner with multiple rental properties takes advantage of hard working people who save up to take a vacation that ends with unforseen circumstances. i'm a firm believer in karma.

Aruba Family vacation

What a fabulous home!! We had plenty of room for 8 people to stay comfortably. The bedrooms were accommodating and the beds comfortable. The pool and hot tub met our needs, but why use them so much when the beach is so close. Palm Beach was an easy walk from the house. The shopping was close as well. I attended meetings at the Ritz Carlton, which was close as well. We met Helen on the first day! Wonderful lady and very helpful on guiding us in restaurant ideas and activities. The cooler, beach chairs, beach towels and umbrella were great additions! They made our beach outings much easier! We had an At Home Aruba chef prepare 2 dinners at the Fortress!! Wow!! How wonderful!! Would strongly recommend the Palm Beach Fortress to any with a large group. Thank Dr. Riley and Helen

Wonderful experience

This was a really good property. We were a group of 10 adults, enjoyed the separate sleeping quarters and the main house. Kitchen was nicely equipped, pool and jacuzzi were wonderful. Was a little tricky to locate and had taxi's circuling around numerous times but once we figured it out, was easy to get to. Definitely a great place for groups to enjoy the area! There were a few minor glitches but we worked around them and enjoyed our time there immensely! Highly recommend this Villa !

Nice house , great location

We renter this house for my wife’s 50th birthday . Plenty of room for 8 of Us . We spent a lot of time in the evening At the pool and hot tub Owners were very friendly and easy to get in touch with. Location is very close to mall, beach and restaurants We would definitely stay there again

Helpful feedback to owner

The outdoor area needs to be maintained. Pool area needs to be power washed and a lot of the pool tile re-grouted. The hot water heater for the house needs replacement ( insufficient hot water for morning showers) overall review is that it has been neglected and needs some maintenance on a regular basis.
