When I checked in, I was automatically upgraded to a larger room. Staff were friendly and accommodating. My suitcase was carried up to my room by a staff member.
I paid extra for the breakfast for convenience. Walkable to plenty of shopping and restaurants. It was a 15 minute walk from the train station.

Convenient for town centre and sightseeing but surounding streets were drab and run-down. Very small number of staff, who went above and beyond to make us welcome. No lift and quite a few stairs (could be tricky for some). Room was extremely small but included fridge - useful in the heat.
I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Chose the hotel for its closeness to the university but should have read the reviews a bit closely. The online pictures are misleading. The staff were friendly but all other things were terrible. Started with a crammed cage-like single room, hot, noisy with barely enough room to move around. Was cautious with the window, fearing the laches might come loose. Awful and bland breakfast.
This hotel was really great. Lovely helpful, friendly staff and very clean. Great full english breakfast. Close to all amenities.
Would highly recommend.

It was ok, but unfortunately our room had a smell to it as soon as you opened the door also the corridor smelt of weed both at night and in the morning. The staff were very friendly.
We had a great experience at the Plough! We were there for a function and the staff could not have been friendlier! Room was clean and very comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent and a great value at £10. Eady walking distance to centre of town. I would definitely stay again!
