Arbour Guesthouse is a simple place but it's clean and it's a good value (considering that accomodations in Oban are a bit pricy). We regretted though that the "double bed" was only 120 cm and not properly advertised as sub-standard. It would be nice as well to have good curtains (blackout and down to the floor) as up north the sun rises very early in summer.
Ok, So we had to book in at a different guest house, clearly inconveniencing whoever booked us in, judging by the prickly reception. The triple rooms single beds mattress clearly had, had its day. the shared shower room (which was a surprise as I thought we had an ensuit) had other residents washing drying on the shower rail. Breakfast was in a third guest house. and at 0730min the morning we couldnt get in the door was looked. My children were standing in the street shivering. So we walked about the town for half an hour until another resident let us in.
Other than ms frosty we saw no other staff in the two days we were there. I cant say that I enjoyed the scotish hospitality on this trip. If I ever go back to Oban. I'll be sleeping in my car. Don't stay here.
Looking at the descriptions of the room, itâs very deceptive because I had no idea that we would have a shared bathroom. It makes it a point to say when thereâs a private bathroom, but it seems to omit that from the shared bathroom. For three people the room was extremely small I get itâs a budget hotel but I wouldâve paid the extra money to have my own bathroom. Otherwise it is a great location.. Iâm sure the rooms that have private restrooms are probably much better and hopefully a little bit larger.
The room had an ensuite, though it was a bit cramped. The bed was okay, but a bit soft for me.
You had an option of a continental breakfast, but the breakfast room was at another associated property 2 doors down.
It was within walkimg distance of the town centre.
Actually stayed next door so cannot review the Arbour Guest house
No breakfast was included
Room was small but adequate
Unusual layout with the sink next to the bed
Sorry to say, but there was really absolutely nothing we liked about this place. From the staff to the room, to noisy disturbances for the whole night. everything was horrible. At least they could avoid vacuum cleaning at 8.00 AM on a Sunday just in front of the room. Sorry. Just try to avoid this property.
Worst hotel ive ever stayed at
The room was tiny bed broke.
Washing machine banging at 7am
Hear every word from another room
Tv size of a tablet
Mold in bathroom
Bed stunk
Honestly worst 2 nights ive ever had
Phoned the reception to say no hot water
The reply i had (are you sure because no one else complained)
Had no shower in the morning
And it was back in after i complained in the after
ÂŁ190 for 2 nights wasnt worth it at qll
Large clean room with shared bathroom (it wasnât clear this was the case when booking, but the other room was unoccupied). Fantastic location, quiet. Good value for money.
The property is spotlessly clean, kudos to the cleaners !
We were asked to pay cash on arrival as the payment machine was not working. Elaine who attended our arrival and was very nice and helpful. The property is in a very convenient location and very handy for shopping, restaurants and the watersedge where the Ferries depart and arrive.
Unfortunately, our Room no. 4 was very noisy due to the Wind (Windows not thight, roof tiles ratteling). Toilet door could only hardly be locked. Neighbouring rooms could have been listened.
Our room was very clean and comfortable. The location is great with many restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend a tour to Staffa Island. It was incredible. I would skip the continental breakfast. Overall a great place in Oban.
