The place is good, but how was it was rated so high by everyone else before me? The good - location is near the beach, it was the right amount of space for the two of us, and it had the amenities we needed. The issues that make it below 5 star - the appliances were not modern, and the stove may be the oldest I've seen in my lifetime (and I'm 60). It did not inspire me to use the kitchen. The kitchen ceiling is a drop ceiling. The cabinets are inexpensive. These things are all fine and functional, but it's just not "5 star" for a VRBO.It's also on the first floor, with direct entry from the outside, like a motel. And the balcony has no view. While it's clear in their review, the requirement to order sheets and towels in off-peak times is a nuisance. We flew in to Baltimore and after driving to Ocean City, we arrived around midnight and needed to take out the towels and sheets to make our bed and use the bathroom. Not ideal.Again, there's nothing "wrong" with the place. It's generally clean and check-in worked well and all that. But it's made to be an inexpensive rental and it feels that way. Most VRBO's are more recently updated.
