It was a very nice room clean big enough for what we needed. It had everything we needed for the night. The maid was very nice. Enjoyed our stay. Will be staying here again when needed
first, was hit by smell of fabuloso or fabreeze that was so strong and lingering that I slept with sheet over my nose! mattress was very soft. pictures gave the impression that the common area was part of your unit. what you get is a very small bedroom and bathroom. everything was clean but the chemicals used were too strong. for some, this may not be an issue, but I had instant migrane!
It was a really cute place, but communication with the property wasnât great. I called and asked about beach chairs and they said they provided them. However, when we got there we found out that was wrong. I got a phone call apologizing but there wasnât really anything done to help rectify it. Our bedroom floor was also really sandy. They could add some shelving in the bathroom, hangers, lamps, curtains. It was a lovely old home, but I wasnât particularly satisfied.
Location was perfect in proximity to what we came for in the area (beach, boardwalk, asbury park). The check in couldnât have been any easier. Here are some critiques. The view from our room was nothing special. The online photos made the room seem like it was bigger and in better condition than it was in actuality. The bed had a slanted feeling to it. The bathroom was too small and the one mirror in the bathroom was not very accessible.Location was the best part. Clean enough. Fine for what we needed and if youâre there for the location it is a great option.
Me and my boyfriend went to a concert at the Stone Pony and did not want to have to drive home after. We booked this cute little place online and the location was amazing! 2 blocks from the ocean and less than a 15 minute walk to the venue and main Asbury Park boardwalk. The photos are a little deceiving as there are photos of a few commons areas that look to be a part of the room, but photos were accurate, space was very clean and check was very simple. Host provides plenty of instructions, updates and reminders before, during, and after the stay. The room was small, shower control was very strange, no shelves in the shower was a little odd, Window A/C unit does not work 100%, a few blinds were broken, only 1 small trashcan for the room as well.
It must have been a joke. It was filthy, from under the bed to the mini-fridge and the walls. For them to charge as much for a cleaning fee as much as the room was ridiculous considering my room did not look clean at all. The drain would not drain. There was also no blanket big enough for me and my partner. Nice location but nothing else.
Very quaint place to stay! So close to the beach/boardwalk and a very short walk to Asbury Park. Many restaurants/bars and shops to choose from. Would definitely stay there again.
Loved the ACâd rooms with mini fridges as well as 2 beautiful porches where we enjoyed a quiet evening. Great location two blocks from beach and boardwalk near a dead end that abuts a park. Just wish we had reserved a room with a queen sized bed instead of a full sized bed.
The Melrose was clean and quiet for a two-night stay off season
It was strange to stay in a "hotel" with no front desk and no staff. To be honest, I much prefer a human presence. Yes, a certain amount of information was provided in written form, and there was a contact number to call if you had a question or issue, but I still would have preferred someone to be working in the building.
I was given a room on the third floor which required going up many, many steep steps. I would have preferred a lower room and it didn't seem to me that the rooms on the first and second floors were all occupied (hard to tell) so I wonder why I was given the least convenient room in the entire building (third floor, all the way in the back).
The room was clean but one of the blinds was broken and the air conditioner placement was as far from the bed as possible, making it hot for sleeping even when the A/C was running full blast. The bathroom was clean and functional though very small with no place to put anything. It needs a shelf or two. Towels were adequate, though the inclusion of a beach towel would have been nice.
The coffee service was appreciated but there could be tea pods available as well.
The building is well situated at the northern end of Ocean Grove only a couple blocks off the ocean and very close to Asbury. It was easy to park for free right in front and easy to get around by foot by while I was there. The porches were nice to hang out on.
We had a nice stay overall. The location was great, the property was quiet. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and on a slant so your feet were higher. Cpuld have used better pillows. But great spot otherwise.
We really enjoyed staying here. The location is excellent. We were really close to the beach and a short walk to town for shopping and food. The building is quiet, clean, and safe. The only reason for providing 4 stars instead of 5 is we didnât have enough towels. After asking, we were told to leave our towels outside the door and they were never replaced.
Everything was a described. Coffee always available was wonderful. On-site staff person was attentive, accommodating and friendly.
We completely enjoyed our brief getaway. Will book again for sure.
Location was in a great spot. It was a little deceptive compared to the listing however it was a nice place. The coffee/couch area is not apart of the room, itâs a communal area. This isnât a big deal however the listing makes it appear as part of the room. Our room did have a fridge that wasnât listed so that was nice. Very clean and great communication.
