I mean no disrespect to the owners, but this place wasnât the vibe for us. My daughter and I were road-tripping for her senior trip and booked this âcity viewâ room for a great price. The decor? Beautiful. Thatâs where the good surprises ended.
Velvet Woody is in a tiny town about an hour from both OKC and Tulsa. When we arrived around 7pm, the cute coffee shop and BBQ place mentioned in reviews were closed. Our dinner options were fast food, gas station snacks, or an Indian place in a half-abandoned gas station.
Check-in is via digital lock on a glass door off Main Street. It took 4 tries. Inside: silent. No staff. Just a stairwell and keys hanging on hooks. Very DIY. Room 5 had big windows that technically offered a âview,â but âcityâ is generous. The amber lights flickered like candles. It was⊠unsettling. Maybe haunted? Our spidey senses said no. We left and booked a Marriott in Tulsa instead. God bless Marriott.
We lost the $90... no travel insurance, and I doubt âthe vibes were hauntedâ is covered. But lesson learned.
3 stars: The listing wasnât dishonest. Itâs clean, self-check-in was disclosed, and the place is stocked with towels and soap. Just maybe not for everyone. Bring salt and sage.
