A fantastic place to stay in the Oldtown/Cumberland area. The house is super cute and very convenient to Oldtown and the C&O Canal, and itâs an easy drive into Cumberland if needed. Everything was peaceful and the countryside is very pretty. Also our host was great; no problems. Would stay here again!
What a wonderful hidden treasure! This great house is super clean and comfortable. Updated kitchen made meals easy. Spacious updated bathroom with dual sinks. Comfortable living and dining room area. The house sits up on a hill and is quiet. Oldtown is a quiet small town and a great place to get away from it all and enjoy the simpler things. This retreat is the perfect place to stay while visiting the area for all of the outdoor activities or for a quiet place to get some work done. Will definitely be returning here. Hosts were very responsive and made an extended stay here very successful. Thank you!
We greatly enjoyed our time at the Old Town Guesthouse! The owner was extremely responsive and generous. The homemade cookies were a great touch! We had to reschedule our trip at the last minute and she was so understanding and helped us find another time to visit and add a night to our trip! Not only was the customer support excellent, but the space was beautiful, clean, well maintained, and well stocked with everything you could possibly need! The location might not be for everyone since it's about 15 minutes from Cumberland, but as someone familiar with the area, I found it to be peacefully isolated and still close enough to civilization by Western Maryland terms.I highly recommend this listing if you want a peaceful getaway!
Great place to stay. Location was great for our visits to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad. Host prepared a welcoming, well appointed home for our stay. Very clean and well maintained.
My friend and I were biking the GAP-C&O trail from PIT to DC and stayed here just one night on 10/15/24. Rachel was very helpful in directions to the house. She also dropped off laundry detergent so we could do a wash. The house was very clean with nice accommodations, including freshly baked cookies! Would highly recommend. If you are biking from the trail, note that the road to the house is busy with traffic and speed limit 50 mi/hr. Also, there's only one restaurant in town, the School house restaurant which closes fairly early at night.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this property. Very easy check-in process, clean and comfortable home, responsive host. Location is 25 min from Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad. Perfect place to stay for a fall foliage train ride!
We were in Maryland for a family event. Rachel was the best host, even had homemade cookies for us! The house is so comfortable, clean and well appointed. Definitely 10 stars! Thank you. Rachel.
The guesthouse was beautiful and very clean! Went for a girls trip and the house was perfect! So relaxing and quiet! Rachel was thoughtful and even left homemade cookies! Would love to visit again!
This was the perfect place for our family for our stay in the area. It was clean and had everything we needed to fix meals. We loved the docorations as they added to the atmosphere to just relax and enjoy the area.
My husband and I spent our 3rd year anniversary here and in ALL HONESTY, this home was the best home we've visited for our anniversary vacation. The entire home has a feeling of peace to it..The house is clean, the bathroom is extremely spacious with 2 sinks. The bedrooms are neat, and we enjoyed simply being indoors and enjoying our stay. You need to spend time here, You wont regret it.
If you need a quiet, peaceful and relaxing getaway, please come!
Thank you so much for doing a great job with the place. My husband and I really enjoyed being here!
P.s: there is a cookie waiting for you at your arrival.
A lovely, spacious, nicely decorated home in a rural setting. Kitchen was divine. We had no problems cooking there at all. Appreciated the A/C as it was quite hot while we were staying there. The hosts were very quick to respond to the one issue we did have.
My husband and I were looking for a place to just get away. Do minimal activities but enjoy the outdoors. We found it in Oldtown. Not really a town as some would say but we enjoyed the School House Kitchen for breakfast and went hiking at the Paw Paw tunnel. This house was perfect! In a rural location but still close to Cumberland and Lavale, which we only went to for dinners. It was hot so we decided to do a puzzle together on hot afternoons, sleep in (which is 7am for us) and the house was perfect. Very Clean, comfortable bed and a nice homemade snack was left for us too! We are already trying to decide when we can come back and stay here again!
We were on a bicycle trip from Pittsburgh PA to Washington D.C. and needed a place to stay near Oldtown. I contacted Rachel to ask if her rental was close to the trail. She said it was but there was one busy road that she didnât think we should bike on. She offered to pick us up at the trail and drive us the short distance to the house, and also offered to picked us up in the morning and bring us back to the trail. They had a nice vehicle with a bike rack on the back that could accommodate up to 4 bikes.
The house was spotless and exactly as shown in the pictures. She had put out some chocolate chip cookies on the counter as well as some locally made sourdough bread and eggs in the fridge for breakfast.
Both Rachel and her husband were so helpful, very responsive to messages, and they were waiting for us when we arrived in town on the trail.
Hot showers in a very clean, spacious and modern bathroom. Towels, soap, shampoo was all there.
We would be happy to stay there again if we are in the area.
My wife and I were biking the C&O Canal Towpath, and needed a place fo the night. This was the perfect place. Its close to a parking area to get on the trail. Exceptionally clean and neat. Parking is easy in the driveway. The fresh cookies were a nice touch. Double sinks in the large bathroom were very nice as well. It has all the things you would need if you needed to cook and stay longer. I would return and stay again if we come that way again. Thank you!
This was a great find! We were in town for Delfest and we really enjoyed the convenient location. The house was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Rachel was a responsive and accommodating host. We definitely recommend staying here!
