The hotel is great, the staff is super helpful. It has excellent facilities better than avg Holiday Inn Express, interestingly enough it has a small pool which some people would like. The gym is very good. The breakfast is better in the early hours, as the time passes it has limited options offered, but the staff can provide you what you need. I had a good stay It is very close to Rideau downtown with lots of bars and restaurants. Though, for women walking alone it might feel a bit unpleasant as there are many homeless persons around the property.

Our king room was large and modern. Bed was comfortable, and there was also a fainting couch. Bathroom had a large shower with rain shower head. Included a decent buffet breakfast with cold and hot options. Friendly, helpful staff. Would stay here again.

Parking is a NIGHTMARE! Literally terrifying to drive and park in their underground lot. Tiny pool and no whirlpool. Location is across the street from homeless shelter and there's people doing drugs in public. People approached my vehicle when I stopped to pull in. The hotel itself and staff are nice. Location, parking and druggies make this a no-go next visit to Ottawa.

The hotel itself was great. The staff were helpful. The ladies working breakfast did an amazing job at the busiest hotel breakfast I’ve ever seen! Good breakfast choices. Pool was small but good. Room was great! Clean, nice view and comfortable. I think they do a great job overall at the hotel and it’s close to lots of downtown activities. We weren’t prepared for the large number of homeless all around the block. On the corner, diagonal from the hotel, is a full block of buildings to service the unhoused. These individuals are in and down the median in the road with tents and panhandling. The hotel itself does a good job of not having anyone on their property and have security inside the lobby. They have made their front entrance unusable to avoid anyone wondering in that shouldn’t. We had planned to walk to all our trip activities with our children but it was challenging. We went a few blocks out of the way to avoid the kids hearing and seeing things that were scary. It was alarming how rough the area was even into the ByWard market unfortunately. Parking was tight, but building seemed secure. It also had a cute little terrace overlooking the city but unfortunately you can’t avoid what’s happening in the area!

A perfectly reasonable downtown hotel, though it is located very close to a homeless shelter (so beware, particularly at night) and breakfast can be extremely busy with long lines. We were there over the Canada Day weekend, so perhaps at other times it won’t be so crowded.

Bad area, AVOID

CONS the loading zone is poorly designed. The hotel regularly has NO parking available; have to walk about 10 mins thru sketchy area (Clarence St). If you have not yet seen 50-100 people smoking or shooting meth/fenty or crack; this is across the street (this holiday inn is in the worst section of the city of Ottawa) Hallways and elevators are sticky and dirty with food in rafters and stairwells. They have a security guard watching tik tok videos in lobby and paying zero attention. one of the worst holiday inns i’ve ever visited, and it was way overpriced!

Beautiful hotel but make sure you understand that there is NOT sufficient parking - we had to park three blocks away and pay for 24 hour parking. The check in area also does not have sufficient parking to park and then check in.
