This could be a great hotel but has poor management. The front desk staff were all unhelpful, did not speak English well, denied I had a reservation with Expedia , have no authority and the manager is seldom on site. The bathroom needed an overall deep clean, the laundry line didn’t work and the toilet was challenging to flush. There is a $5 charge for poor internet that did not work outside the building at bar seating or at the pool. The continental breakfast is minimal and unhealthy. The bed however was extremely comfortable, pool refreshing, massage excellent, shuttle worked well, store was good and the restaurant food was acceptable, if overcooked.

A Lovely Stay

Parking was convenient and check-in/out was quick and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable with a well functioning AC. While the bed was comfortable to sleep on, sitting on the edge, it was easy to tell that these mattresses were near the end of their life. Very much appreciated the mini fridge and microwave. The included continental breakfast had limited options but quality food; I was disappointed that the suafa’i wasn’t available every day because it was so delicious when it was available. There was no hair dryer in the room already but one was readily supplied upon request. The water was hot and the pressure was decent. While showing some signs of wear, this was still a very pleasant trip and I highly recommend staying at Tradewinds when visiting American Samoa!

The hotel is beautiful and exceeded my expectations. It has a welcoming atmosphere, and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are clean and quiet, and the lobby is stunning. The food is excellent as well. The hotel offers a great workout area, a nail salon, and massage services, complemented by a small boutique featuring local items that represent the island's culture. The swimming pool is nice and warm, and I appreciate that the hotel is conveniently close to the airport. Their car rental service is a fantastic travel option, and the airport service helps with check-ins and check-outs, making everything very convenient. If you have any questions or concerns during your stay, don’t hesitate to ask the front desk or the bellboys in the lobby; they are excellent sources of information. Just a heads up: the hotel does not have an ATM, so please plan accordingly. However, there are ATMs and banks nearby as you explore the islands. I highly recommend checking out Tradewinds. Great place to stay.

We had a lovely 9 night stay in Tradewinds. The hotel was very nice and offers many amenities. Our room had a fridge and microwave, there was complimentary breakfast daily. We will definitely stay again.

I was very disappointed in the service. In emails, they were surprisingly curt and unhelpful. While staying there, I asked them to book me a one way taxi ride from the hotel to Fagasa Pass in order to do the Mount Álava trail. When I asked the front desk to check the cost, they told me the charge would be $50, but when I afterwards checked with locals, and confronted the front desk again, they confirmed it should’ve cost $35 tops. When I complained, management refused to take any responsibility for facilitating this swindle and claimed that they shouldn’t need to look out for their guests when they are acting as intermediaries, nor should they be aware of average taxi prices. They went so far as to tell me that I should’ve taken photos of the cab, as if it were my mistake to have trusted the hotel to book a reliable taxi in the first place. Additionally, when I asked about how to get back from Vatia after hiking, rather than go through any effort to find me a solid solution, they simply told me to ask a local for help instead once I got there. Ironically, the front desk’s refusal to help me themselves was one of the better (non)actions they took, and I ended up hitchhiking with a very kind family. WiFi costs an additional $5 a day. Although the rooms look clean on the surface, any closer look reveals layers of grime that have not been addressed, especially in the bathroom. The hotel is convenient to the airport and little else.
