This is a clean and practical apartment with a floor plan that provided a lot of useful space, in a location that is absolutely fantastic, but there are some caveats. First, the building apparently sits on top of one or more Metro/subway lines, and even though the apartment is on the 3rd floor (in American lingo), you can definitely hear and feel the rumble when the trains come, which is every few minutes during the day. Some were loader than others. It was never loud enough to keep us from sleeping or interfere with conversation, and it stops late at night when the metro doesnât run, but itâs definitely noticeable. Also, the guest services agency that administers the apartment wasnât the best. No kitchen towels, half a roll of toilet paper, no welcome package like many VRBO properties provided, and the binder with info about the property was in a random drawer (that we only found at the end) instead of out in plain sight. Finally, the building landlord wanted to install an intercom in the apartment during our stay, and we were initially asked to wait around to let the service person in. In the end we reached a perfectly satisfactory solution that didnât inconvenience us at all, and the negotiation about alternate solutions was very cordial, but the idea that weâd even be asked to spend part of our Paris vacation waiting around for a technician to arrive seemed crazy. We still enjoyed our stay and itâs a pretty good property, but with a no-frills approach to amenities.
