We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fell View. It sits high on a hillside and has an incredible view looking over the mountains to the south in the Lake District. You can sit on the front porch and just enjoy the vista! There is also a nice backyard which we didn't get to use. A friend in Manchester had suggested that we had done better if we had booked in Keswick or similar, but we ended up loving being in Penrith. It seemed more like a regular town and not swamped with tourists. There is a short walk into the center of Penrith and plenty of places for groceries in walking distance. There was great access to hikes in the Lake District, the Dales and a trip up to Hadrian's Wall. The home (it is a duplex, and we never heard a sound from next door) is very nicely decorated and has two floors. We loved sitting in the small living room. The bed we used was very comfortable, and we slept well. The kitchen had plenty of cooking gear. There is a washer and dryer, although the latter was out of order but hopefully will be sorted soon. They did have a line dryer (both for inside and in the yard), and we were lucky to have all sunny weather and so not a problem for us. The owners, Martin and Linda, live next door and are very kind. They are available for any questions and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. We appreciate staying in rentals that feel like a home, especially for an extended time like this one. We would very happily stay here again.
