After being exhausted from a day of travel, I did not have an access code prior to or upon check-in so was not able to stay at this rental which I booked 2 months in advance of stay. Called and texted host but did not receive response. Called VRBO customer service shortly after 4 pm check-in. Host did not respond to VRBO so VRBO ended up canceling reservation and refunding initial payment. Asked for recommendations for a place to sleep that night but received none. After spending 2hours online trying to figure out accommodations for 2-3 nights over sold out Mother's Day weekend, ended up finally calling a local hotel and explaining the situation. This hotel had a room for me to sleep in that night. VRBO left me high and dry. The hotel was noisy late at night and very early morning but it was a place to sleep. VRBO rental had a kitchen so packed and brought food to prepare but ended up having to donate the food and buy meals out as I had no stove, oven or refrigerator. Lost visiting time with my daughter on Friday evening due to trying to find a place to sleep. Made the best of Mother's Day weekend with my daughter but lack of sleep and having to make alternative arrangements negatively impacted my Mother's Day. Host did respond the next day indicating she was on a flight and was not able to respond.
