If I could give this a one star rating, I would. We weren't sent any check-in information, and the host wouldn't respond to any messages or calls. We had to get Vrbo to refund us, and try and find last-minute accommodation. This host is unreliable, don't stay here!
We were to check in to the property on a Friday night. We had not received the access information when expected and we sent multiple messages and made numerous attempts to contact the owner on our 4-hour drive to the property. We never received any response and had to file a report with VRBO to get our payment refunded. Absolute worst experience ever!!
Property owner was a no-show.
I have contacted the property owner one week in advance for state, she said that she would send the check-in codes the day before. When I contacted her the morning of our check-in, there was no response. I did not hear from her until the wee hours of the morning, apologizing for their mistakeAnd letting me know that the property was not available that weekend.
They did refund my fees in their entirety.
We really enjoyed our stay at the house in Squirrel Hill. It is a quiet neighborhood even if the Highway is only 3 min away from the house. We have been 4 adults and could find everything we need for our stay. All is practicable furnished and we missed nothing. We often cooked at the house and could always have breakfast and dinner at the backyard terasse. To find a parking place was no problem as you can either park behind the house or we could often find a parking spot in the front of the house. The highway is just 3 min down the street and it tooks us 12 min to be downtown Pittsburgh. We liked it to take the 15 min walk to the grocery store in Squirell Hill, that was a most welcome variation as we were anyway driving around every day. Questions we had, have been answered by the renter within a couple of minutes. We would at any time stay again at this place.
Everything was as stated in the property review. There were six adults in our group and we were all very comfortable in the home. Plenty of room for all of us. The home was very neat and CLEAN. One very minor complaint was the water in the upstairs bathroom would only get lukewarm. Iâm sure that could be corrected with an adjustment on the water heater. We would highly recommend this location.
Our family spent a long weekend at this property while visiting Pittsburgh.
This building is a duplex. The unit you rent is on the left side. It is three stories. You enter on the main floor which is the 2nd floor. No sleeping areas or bathrooms are on the main floor. It is 13 steps to get upstairs to the small full upstairs bathroom. It is also 13 steps down from the kitchen to get to the even smaller bathroom in the basement.
Dark walk from vehicle parked in public lot. We used our cell phone flashlights. Vehicles can park on street in front of unit but we never got one of the spaces. You have to walk up around to front of house on uneven blocks. Walking to the house you have weeds and flowers across the walk. Which is a concern during tick season. Step off the path though is weeds, high grass and thistles. This is the fenced in back yard the owner suggests is part of the âkid friendlyâ unit. The yard drops off beside the fence and the grass/weeds were high. The back steps had a dim single bulb in it that did not light the steps leading up to the porch.
No stairway overhead lights to basement. The one switch we found was upstairs so cell phone flashlights again if no one was in the kitchen to turn off the light. The basement had a set of pressed wood looking twin beds. No chairs so when one of us sat on the beds we found out the hard way how they were assembled. Mattresses on frames with no support. The owner said no one has ever had a problem before with the beds. In our case, one a 190 pound person sat on and the other a 230 pound person. We have slept on twin beds without issue. We both have slept on one twin bed without a problem. Both of these in this basement gave way. We slept on mattresses on the floor all of the nights we were there. . The new twin beds provided by our Damage Insurance Policy should be much better. The bedrooms upstairs have portable TV stands for night stands. One bed out of all upstairs was comfortable. The others were mattresses on boards. Ants crawling on the kitchen counters. No light in the refrigerator.
One small TV in the whole place that you may use your own subscriptions on. Two very low sitting sofas with couch covers in livingroom. We learned after we arrive that the owner will not be available from an hour of check-in until 24 hours later. I would never check into a property when the contact person is not available for the first twenty-four hours.
