The neighborhood was the best part of our experience. It is an easy five minute walk to Butler Street where you can enjoy restaurants and shops. The actual location of the property was not great. Itâs in a small alley area with some rundown properties around it. The stairs to the unit are steep so if you have mobility issues this is not for you. It definitely serves its purpose for Homecoming weekend at UPitt as a place to sleep.
The check-in process was easy, Wi-Fi access was seamless, and directions were excellent. Kitchen facilities were reasonable, it was a bummer. There was not any coffee to go with coffee maker.
Upon entering property you could immediately tell it was not clean, couch cushons had hair, and stains and lint. Floor was barely swept and had stains on kitchen counter and floor. Bed had literally what appeared to be a semen stain, was told i could access the locked basement to wash them myself. Basement was unlo ked and a shared space...also highly untidy unsanitary. When removing bedding from bed obvious signs of bedbug infestation, adult molts, and stains. Immediately left. Host canceled and refundedHad to find a place last minute with washer and dryer to sanitize my property
The parking situation was unclear, I drive a Jeep so it wasnât a problem driving through the knee-high tall weeds but other cars may have difficulty. I checked in the night before trash day, the smell was terrible. Trash was piled high outside of the steps leading to the door. Also, there were folks rummaging through the trash for several hours during the early evening which was unsettling.
The location was convenient and the bed was very comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well which was a huge plus. The place was moderately well stocked, could use additional silverware and other nice amenities like ground coffee. The host was communicative when I asked for parking clarification.
