Formal Complaint & Refund Demand – RIU Tequila Our three-night stay at RIU Tequila was completely unacceptable and the worst experience we have had in 11 visits to Playacar. On Day 1, a drunk guest vomited in the main pool. That same night, during a family “Grease” event, a woman stripped down to her thong and danced in front of families while multiple security guards stood by watching and laughing. No action was taken. On Night 2, after the White Party, guests next to us got into a violent fight and smashed multiple glasses against our door. This created a serious safety concern and we did not feel secure in our room. These incidents reflect a clear failure in guest supervision, security, and basic safety standards. This stay fell far below what is reasonable to expect from a resort of this brand. We are formally demanding a full refund for the three-night stay. I booked a 5 day stay at the RIU Tequila after having spent the 3 weeks previous elsewhere. We arrived several hours before the stated check in time. We were greeted by very friendly front desk staff. They provided welcome drink during the early check in process. Although our room wasn’t ready(which I fully expected) we were given our bracelets and informed we could use any of the facilities while we waited. We didn’t have to check back, they sent us an email an hour before the posted check in time informing us our room was ready. A porter took our bags to our room. The room was close to the restaurants and main building which we had requested. It was spacious and clean. The property does not appear at all run down or outdated. The main dining room and the other specialty restaurants are open and bright. They serve a very good variety of food. The shuttle to the beach is great. All of the staff from the dining room to the maid service were consistently friendly and helpful. This resort provides an overwhelming choice of activities, shows, bars, and dining options. I would highly recommend this resort and will definitely be returning.

Dirty dishes, cups and glasses in the dining , in stake restaurant- there was someone’s hair in my dish that just was served to me. When we complained to the restaurant manager , he was very aggressive talking to us. Phone system to the reception does not work properly.. there was a very disturbing situation at night when a drunk person was screaming and banging doors into the rooms … we were calling the receptionist during one and a half hour. However the receptionist never picked up the phone….we will never go there again!

Fridge was never restocked. I had to get it myself every time. Fridge was never cleaned (it was set to the coldest when we looked at it and a soda exploded; it was never cleaned up). Staff left dirty cleaning rags in our room. Walls were dirty. The pool was so dirty I got an infection.
