Quick check in with friendly member of staff, Laura. The room was very clean and had everything we wanted. As other reviews mention the bathrooms are old and could do with a makeover but not a problem for a short stay.
There was no soap in the bathroom. Staff were really nice, but the hotel seemed to be understaffed at the time. Ordered breakfast and after half an hour had to ask for it as they were quite busy with lots of guests at the time.
Room ok, but peeling paper above window and broken window catches and broken lamp shade by bed (window side). Bathroom needed a plug for the sink, mould on ceiling above the bath/shower and mastic should have been removed from the tiles (near sink and over bath) where soap dispensers had been removed. No brandy at the bar. Chips supplied with meal were luke warm (nobody came to ask if things were OK). Had to ask for full breakfast to be reheated. Stayed here before, so rather disappointed this time. Will stay here again - as this may have been a one off.
This hotel was satisfactory for the price. The decor and fittings, both in the room and in the public areas were tired, but serviceable. The breakfast options were good, but supplies often ran out and the one person who was trying her best to manage it was over-stretched.
The location was good and straightforward to find.
