The room is good. We had a good view of the beach and pool. Compared to other resorts I find the staff here less warm and welcoming. I also didnt like that you cant bring food in the pool area and there’s a charge for room service. You have to upgrade to premium all inclusive to have that service. One of the staff also locked himself in our room. We reported it but none of the staff got back to us until we checked out.

The Barcelo' was a run down All Inclusive. Look hard when viewing the beach area. There is a marginal one at best. It is a cove and marina combined. Yes you are swimming with a roped off area next to boat motors. The guests that entered the water and came to shore all suffered bug bites, similar to swimmers itch. Room had limited towel service. Our hotel floor #3 had the fire alarms go off three nights in a row. We were told multiple times they were testing, (me-retired firefighter) no testing is done at 10pm at night especially in a hotel. The final night we insisted a manager come with maintenance to check it out. Conclusion NO working alarm system, it was taped to the wall. If a true fire were to happen no one even knew the alarms were even going off to alert a fire department. Food and drinks only okay. If you do not upgrade to premium room package you have limited reservation times for dinner. Also you are only allowed 3 restaurant reservations for a week vacation. The rest of the meals are done in the buffet. Drinks watered down, even morning juices. Again only upgraded room got you better alcohol. Only positive the staff was very friendly. If you are looking for a destination beach vacation this will be a very disappointing unsafe choice for all Inclusive.

The property is on a quiet and historical setting where a famous movie and a tv series has been filmed here. Food were great! Only complain is that the a la carte dining is only open to us one restaurant per night. Also the lock in our room 1615 the screw is missing one, so the lever from inside did close in on me when I shut the door locking me out one time. Luckily my wife came out of the shower and opened the door for me. Also, the room service was not included with the call inclusive. But the view from balcony was excellent and every staff I saw were very kind and helpful.

Food was not up to standards we’ve been use to in Mexico. The restaurants were very poor. Mexican restaurant did not serve mexican food not even refried beans. The Japanese restaurant only had bad sushi and the tempura was breading for chicken. the buffet had too many strange dishes that nobody liked. Too many bugs. Everyone got eaten alive The Staff, the room, the pools and the bars were great.

We were traveling with kids aged 6 and 9. They loved playing in the pool and swimming on the beach. It was a nice quiet resort. The games room was fun, you have to pay for tokens and several pieces weren’t working but we still enjoyed it. The views were beautiful. Food was okay. We wish they offered non-alcoholic beer as an option.

The room was great, the views were great, the staff was amazing. Souvenirs were pricey. The food could have been better. Small buffet. The food needed an authentic touch. Need better wine. Okay entertainment. Very small beach. Good views. Good price if reserved with time. Check in process needs improvement. Lots of mosquitoes during December.

The service staff was very friendly accept for the front desk. Overall the property was fine but could use some upgrades. The beach and the mountains are beautiful. It is quite far from the airport and town so if you want to get better food, it’s not easy. The food at the property was just ok. We wanted to stay in the resort for 1.5 hours longer due to our flight and they would not allow to extend the stay in the room even for a charge and to stay at the pool was an extra charge per person. It felt like nickel and diming. We will not come back to this property.

There was construction on the beach which made noise, ruined our view and soiled the ocean. The food was just a tad over edible, even at the a la carte restaurants. You can't really swim in the water safely because there is a steep drop off and a strong current that pulls you in very quickly. I will say that the premium rooms were great and the lush surroundings was beautiful. However this is not a resort you come to relax and read and experience silence. There is music constantly on and not enjoyable music. This resort convinced me that I wil never do an all inclusive again. We didnt get to experience authentic mexican food . Such a shame becaude i picked mexico exactly because the food is great.

The Barcelo was excellent! Our room was spacious and spotless the moment we arrived we felt safe and secure as we were met by security at the front gate who verified us as guests. The restaurants are very clean and we felt most of the staff was trying to give us a great experience. The food was very good and we liked that we could go to the buffet or the restaurant for lunch to mix it up during our stay. My wife and I plan to return to the Barecelo, most of our experiences I can describe as positive but like anything there are room for improvements. There are some staff I would rate above excellent, they made our trip and we appreciated them greatly! That view from our room was gorgeous, the deck was a perfect size! Thanks again Barcelo from the Murphy’s see you on our next adventure! Stayed December 2-9 2025

I got sick twice. Once from all the garbage discharge being dumped in the beach and the other from the buffet. Beach stank like sewage and had dog feces all over. Buffet was very bland and just the same basic left overs everyday. Nothing cooked properly. Either over boiled or under fried.

The food was horrible. Even the vouchers you get for the nicer restaurants were bad. Got sick after 2 days with food poisoning and was sick for 2 days. Could have been the ice, not sure. But even if i didnt get sick the food was just so bad. Had a ribeye at one of the restaurants and it was salty and not cooked properly. Had the italian cuisine and ordered a pizza. Pizza was gummy and bland even though they have a pizza oven!

The hotel and staff was great. The only complaint I have is how the food is handled at times. The cooks wear a glove, however they are cross contaminating at times. Crack an egg, then use same hand with glove to grab bacon (no tongs). This was not all the time. Our group of 6 - 4 of us got sick being gastro type. Mine being the longest - My gut was still not right even whenI returned home. We have been to Mexico and other countries and have never had this issue before. So cannot say it is because we are from Canada and you are in Mexico. Not sure what it was from, just that we were sick and due to that would not return in case it was the hotel itself. The hotel is in a beautiful location, you can snorkel right from the beach by the rocks I saw a puffer, angel fish and colorful fish also.
