The property was nice and well kept. The staff was attentive. Drinks were good. The food options need help. The best meal we had was at the fine dining option called Kulinarium, it was good but not great. The other food options were mediocre at best. The location wasn’t an issue. We left a few times and it felt out of the way. If you don’t plan on leaving or not often the location is great. Safe, clean and very pretty.

We had a nice time with our family on our trip to Puerto Vallarta, but sadly the hotel experience at Riu Vallarta was disappointing. On day three, we noticed bugs in our son’s bed. At first, we assumed it was just because of the tropical climate, but as the days went on, it became clear there was a serious issue — every time we lifted the sheets, bugs scattered, and our toddler ended up with bites all over his back and arms so it was clear it was bedbugs! The elevator broke twice (we were on the 8th floor), the ATM didn’t work, and the A/C went out for a full day, leaving our room at 27°C overnight. Those things I could excuse, but the bedbugs were awful. When we told the hotel staff, they showed no concern or compassion and acted like we were inconveniencing them. Both the front desk and the Expedia reps onsite told us to “just report it when you get home.” Now I’m honestly worried we might have brought the bugs home in our luggage. For a $3,500 USD vacation, this was incredibly disappointing and we will not be using Expedia or Riu again. Terrible. Do not recommend.

Loved: The staff were fantastic. Friendly, helpful, and polite. The grounds were very clean. The buffet was good. Our room was great and was always cleaned while we were out, with the minibar refilled. We loved that there was a 24 hour food/drink spot. We appreciated the app, it was easy to use. We could see what restaurants were open, what activities and entertainment was going on. Disliked: hot pool, lack of bathrooms in public areas, lack of room service, the Italian restaurant a la carte food was inedible, water sports expensive (we would have thought simple things like boogie boards would have been included), and lots of vendors on the beach.

very little recommended compared to other hotels, the drinks taste like pure water with candy, there is no brand liquor, and the buffet has very little variety and not enough food if we arrived 2 hours after they had opened it... the only good restaurant is the steak house... from then on nothing to do with it... they charged me 300 pesos (15) dollars for losing the key... in short I do not recommend it...

No comentaron que en el restaurantes no se hacía reservación en cambio en el steak house nos dijeron que se tenía que hacer reservación, al siguiente día de haber llegado en mi habitación no abastecieron el refrigerador y en dos restaurantes no nos comentaron que no se podía estar sentándose en una mesa de 10 personas y a la hora de ingresar nos sentaron en dos mesas diferentes !!!
