I booked this property because the pictures show rooms with exposed old stone walls and the breakfast sounded exciting. I was hoping to relive a bit of the experience my husband and I had in a boutique bed and breakfast in Montreal when we were on our honeymoon 25 years ago by echoing our stay there with those two aspects. Instead we were in a fairly generic tiny room that looked nothing like the pictures. The bathroom was divided in two parts with a toilet in one and the shower and sink in the other. The painting that had hung in the toilet room was propped on the floor by the toilet bowl. The nail that had held it up had failed and no one had bothered to either fix it or remove the painting. That's kind of the zeitgeist of the whole level of decoration/design in the part of the hotel we were in at least....maybe if we'd lucked out and had a room in the front part, it would have been more like the picture. Breakfast was a disappointment in a different way. There were a lot of choices but, as people with a hotel voucher, we could only access a few less exciting ones. We opted to pay extra to get the breakfast we wanted but really....if your Expedia says I'm paying $24 for breakfast, why aren't all the choices available in the first place?? Wish I could have found something more akin to the Sans Souci of Montreal in the early 2000s....guess it doesn't exist anymore.

We loved the area perfect for walking around to take in the sites. The deal was in a different location so that was different and lots of steps needing knee replacements this was not good for me. Luckily I had a nice you man on the street to help us with luggage to the third floor.

The hotel is in an excellent location, in an old building within walking distance of anywhere in the Upper Town of Quebec. The reception is shared with another hotel in the street, which had not been communicated to me - and the receptionist was not there on the last morning as I was checking out, which complicated matters in terms of leaving my luggage in there for a couple of hours. The room itself was fine, clean, and comfortable, and tea and coffee were provided, as well as an iron, an ironing board, and a hairdryer. However, the plug in the washbasin was faulty and finally broke down on the last night, so I was left unable to use it properly and had to improvise as I ended up using the shower to wash my hands and brush my teeth.

The air conditionner was working but kept making loud noise which kept me from sleeping a full night, i’ve had about 2h of sleep. One of the 2 towell i was given came with something that looked like a poop stain on it… I wish i had looked at the reviews before booking this, i would’ve gone elsewhere. The room i received was worth half the price i paid in my opinion.

This property was clean and comfortable and included in the price is a lovely breakfast. The property is a few buildings away from where you check in and only at certain times, so no one at the property to contact should you need anything. I stayed 3 nights and reported that my tv did not work. I received 2 new batteries on the second day which I put into the remote but that didn’t fix the problem. It was escalated to be repaired but was not fixed by the time I left. Also I was given 1 x t-bag for the coffee machine no actual coffee pods. The property is very central and convenient to all things to see. Please be aware that there is no lift and the rooms are up at least 20 steps. If you are coming from the train or bus station please take a cab unless you are fit as there are many steep hills to negotiate to get to any of the hotels on the top of the hill. Google maps told me it was a slight incline which it’s not.
