We were expecting more

We were expecting more. The decoration was dated and starting to show it. The bath was worn, shower was good. Breakfast was excellent but again the tables and chairs were old and starting to fall apart. For the price it was not value for money. A travel lodge could have been better.

Staff go above and beyond to help the guests, extremely impressed by the extra efforts that staff went to when an elderly couple in the restaurant needed assistance, big shout out to Nancy (hope I got her name right) with helping this couple out, and while doing so she didn't miss a beat with attending to the rest of the guests. Highly recommend the restaurant.

There was an issue with the water at the hotel due to council works outside, meaning our check-in time was a little later and out of their control. Despite this, staff were attentive, helpful & called to inform us as soon as our room was available. Perfect spot for families with the big Queenstown playground just outside & the cherry blossom lined streets and sitting area outside were such a treat! Tidy & comfortable room for our family of 4.

Excellent location. Property is a bit tired, carpet in the hallways need a change. Staff are excellent but no one answers their phone even though I tried many times and all the different areas. No answer from anyone. Breakfast buffet is excellent, rooms are nice, beds are very nice, bathroom bit small.

On the first night, there was no hot water. After asking the front desk, they said the water heating system wasn’t hot enough and that they were fixing it. We waited for an hour before we could finally take a shower with hot water. Another day, there was a complete water outage, and the hotel didn’t inform guests in advance. The shower water was also unstable — sometimes hot, sometimes cold — probably because the equipment is too old. However, the hotel staff and location were both excellent.

The Novotel Lakeside's best feature is its location - the easy access to the many restaurants and bars is perfect. The rooms are small and dated but clean. Parking is a nightmare - I'd suggest paying for valet but book in advance. The area around the hotel is as safe as anywhere in the world.
