This is a great location if you want a combination of touristy attractions and local dining/nightlife. Be aware that the street and parking lot outside will be active late into the night on weekends, but if you plan to go out yourself, you canât ask for a better spot.
The property was pretty clean, however, the ceiling fans need to be cleaned, the heater vent needs cleaning. The lamp in the bedroom was broken. My biggest complaint was the noise from midnight to 2:30 am!!!! Large young crowd, fighting, loud blaring music, tried calling police without success. This happened Friday and Saturday nights. Felt like I was in a war zone! I truly thought there was going to be gun fire and was very concerned for our safety.
Don't use parking lot next door. Saturday we were awoken by gun shots, and our parked vehicle was hit 4 times. We received a police report. The only bedroom window faces the lot this occured in. It could have easily be us that was hit with the shot as well
My biggest complaints would be that there were dirty dishes in the cupboards so I ended up washing most of them before using them. There were several lights out or not working in the apartment. The kitchen is very small which is okay but not well pictured in the listing. No extra toilet paper just the single half roll you get when arriving. The âfreeâ parking is at max two spaces in front of the building. Which were always full. The parking lot next to it is very dirty, broken glass and full of 2am party folk. There are no dish towels either. But other than those things everything was acceptable, I think the cleaning fee is ridiculous as the place was not clean. Being the dishes, clothes drawers, and this mysterious pile of goop and hair next to the bed.
Host was excellent, property was clean, no complaints about the stay except the location. Apartment has two windows at ground level that are right against a public parking lot that seems to be some sort of local hangout spot. Both nights we stayed there was loud music (shaking the window frame loud) right outside the window, once until about 4am. If youâre into the night life and need a place to crash during the day would highly recommend, but would not recommend if you like sleeping before the wee hours of the morning.
My partner and I and our dog stayed here Saturday-Monday for a NASCAR race in Richmond. We were nervous at first because we didnât know if there would be an area to take our dog out right in the middle of the city, but quickly found a grass area. The apartment os small but cozy and had everything we needed. The fromt door can be kinda difficult sometimes but we always got it open. The only concerning thing was we found leftover medication and a dirty sock near the washer so maybe it wasnât cleaned thoroughly before we got there. Overall it was a nice stay and we would do it again.
Overall, it was fun staying in the heart of Shockoe Bottom in an historic building. The building has hosted a ton of well known musical groups for example. Do be aware, however, that you will likely need to pay each night to park your car in the lot next door.
The property was clean and cozy, and communication with the property manager was easy. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place in downtown Richmond!
Weekend Stay with Our Dog (Beware of Noisy People!)
Clean and comfortable. Walking distance to tons of small shops and good restaurants. The property manager was quick to respond to any questions and had great communication.
The only issue we had is that there is a (paid) parking lot right next door to the property and things get extremely noisy at night. After the bars let out, about 2AM, the lot basically becomes a tailgate party full of drunk, loud and rude people. It got so loud that we attempted to leave the lofts at 2:30am to head home, but our car that we had parked in that lot was blocked in by people who were illegally parked there. After some sketchy confrontations, and calling the towing company to remove vehicles, we were finally able to leave.
Although the paid parking is convenient to those renting this property, please beware.
Great little 1 bedroom in Shockoe Bottom neighborhood. Easy to navigate around on foot, several restaurants within walking distance. Check-in process was nice and easy. Found street parking easily as well.
I recently stayed at this apartment with my son and grand-dog for 2 nights so that we could attend my other son's graduation. The apartment was perfectly located for us - easy walking distance to food and to a nice path for the dog walks. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and extremely nicely laid out for a ground floor apartment. Mainstay was very responsive. I'd highly recommend for a single or couple.
The unit is great. Its the perfect size for a single person or a couple. The unit is a great location to downtown activities, and because of that there can be some crowd and traffic noise. I was very worried about the noise, but it died down around 11pm and was not a problem. My only criticism is that the check in process was a bit clunky for me. The front door to the complex is a little quircky and doesn't just open when you enter the code. It takes some jiggling and there is no sound to alert you if you got the code correct. Then the front door of the unit requires you to push the check mark after the code, which was not included in the instructions and took me some time to figure out.
This place was perfect for a weekend in Richmond. The location is great, but you could hear some noise from outside the bedroom window at night. My husband and I were able to walk from a concert on Brown's Island and we were always able to find street parking. The signs say 2 hrs, not sure how strictly it is enforced? But we weren't really there that long during the day. There was an issue with the code not unlocking the unit door when we arrived, but the property manager responded to our call quickly. Overall, we would stay here again!
Really cute little unit, felt brand new in a charming historic building. Neighborhood is a short drive/Uber to most areas of the city. However neighborhood is a bit gritty and somewhat loud on a Saturday night.
The apartment was exactly as advertised, and is in a renovated historic building. Very convenient to walk to restaurants, or a short drive. Apartment was very clean and comfortable. We were able to park within a block any time we left and came back
We took a nice 3-day weekend in Richmond and stayed here. It was perfect! The location was great, the place was clean and well-appointed, and the owners had excellent communication!
We were visiting Richmond to attend a concert at the Altria Theatre. Great location with lots of fun restaurants, bars and other attractions close by! Would stay here again for sure!
I will say that I know I wasnât the best guest. However, this property met every expectation. Very clean, good size, and communicative. Iâd recommend!
Clean & simple. Nice use of space. Noisy late at night due to location of public lot. Some basic things would be nice such as mattress & pillow protectors, K cups & xtra toilet paper/tissue. Hope it can be maintained in similar condition for the future.
