The buts are well documented by previous guests. Kitchen needed a good clean, utility room very untidy, whole house due an update and could be stunning. We had ants in the kitchen and even in the dishwasher which meant we were washing up constantly and couldnât leave food out in over half the kitchen. The owner knows this problem occurs. We did have a great stay, pool was lovely and warm, convenient showers close by, garden very pleasant, parking easy and quiet location. Loved our time but if I got my hands on this house I would really enjoy upgrading it.
I recently stayed at this house with friends and family. In total, we were 8 adults and 7 children ranging from 1-15 years old. It is a very big and comfortable house. It is in need of some TLC, the decoration is old but that is shown in the photos and reflected in the price. The heated indoor pool was amazing and saved our holiday as it was raining most days we were there. There were also many inflatables in the pool which was a nice touch. Everything in the house works, oven, hob, hot water, plumbing, electricity etcâŠ.so I would definitely recommend staying here and I would stay again.
We had a lovely stay at Higham Manor. The property is spacious with a great pool and hot tub. We had 3 generations of our family and a dog and everyone enjoyed themselves. The property is a quirky mix of shabby chic and gothic. With everything we needed for our stay. Lots of parking and no stress at checkin or checkout. Would definitely recommend this house.
We hired the Manor for a group of 14 adults for a birthday weekend. The house is in a lovely location and can't be faulted as a large group venue, however the general condition of the place lets it down hugely and it desperately needs some tlc / money spent on it. There were only 7 matching plates in the house, the other random crockery was like something from a jumble sale, such a shame as the dining room is an absolutely stunning place for a group meal. The kitchen lacks loads of basic items like large bowls / matching cutlery / jugs etc and needs a good clean and sort out. The lounge is amazing with period furniture etc etc and the swimming pool fabulous. Outside the patio is another area needing some desperate attention. Cigarette ends scattered around and a random collection of old garden furniture (including two dangerously broken garden chairs) and a couple of pub type garden bench / tables. I really would at least expect enough comfortable outside seats for my guests at over ÂŁ1000 a night in what is potentially a great outside space. The 2 top floor bedrooms and bathroom really are well below standard. I felt quite embarrassed asking some of my guests to sleep in these rooms. There are loads of tiny fixes in the house that could be done like repair door locks, toilet roll holders, bathroom deep clean, new beds etc The house is a great large group venue but desperately needs some work done on it to make it the stunning place it obviously once was.
The property was perfect for my wifeâs 50th Birthday celebration, the pool and hot tub made it extra special. Would definitely consider staying in future.
