My family had the best weekend at the river estate. It was my Momâs 70th birthday, and there are 17 of us. The cottage, cabin and lodge were perfect. The kids had a blast sledding on the multiple hills. Thank you!
Very accomodating for my famIly. We got to use the lodge as a family for dinner, movies and just to hang out. Walking around the property, specifically in the evening was nice. Had some heavy wind one day and the cover to the hot tub blew off and actually hit my daughter in the head. She is okay but you may want to check the straps. We did not use it at all.
We had multiple issues but the property manager tried to rectify the situation. That was appreciated. Hot tub never got above 89 degrees and we waited 3 days for it to warm up, that was very disappointing and we couldnât use it. Should have detailed directions for turning on the sauna, we couldnât figure that out either. The property was gorgeous and has so much potential for improvement but needs some attention.
The property is beautiful. We did hire a private chef and the meal was wonderful. The hot tub was a little dirty. I was looking forward to playing pool but the pool sticks were missing tips etc. The property was very clean and did accommodate a large group of people. I would definitively stay at the property again.
The property was stunning and worked perfectly for our large group of 17 people. So many people in our group talked about wanting to come back their with family for future getaways. The bedrooms and kitchens were clean and welcoming and the lodge was a fun place for everyone to gather.
Sunsets from this location are amazing! Our work team loved staying in the three buildings. Only difficulty was needing a few more items to make our meals, but otherwise kitchens were awesome.
Stay Charlottesville was responsive and helpful. We took advantage of the concierge service and booked a personal chef. The property is beautiful. It's a great place for a large group or multi-family event.
Wonderful property! The river was a little more difficult to access than expected but overall a great place for a family celebration!!! Beautiful setting!!
beautiful resort tucked away near virginia mountains
This property was very well appointed, everything was updated and new. The property owner needs to give clear directions to the rockfish river- it was hard to find. we were disappointed that it was not swimmable, but other than that, the property was perfect and in close proximity to great hikes, wineries and breweries!
Amazing Property with Views, Wildlife, and Trails!
We stayed with some of our adult kids and families and loved it! I was thrilled to have trails and a gravel road on the property where I could venture out alone when the family didnât want to join. Wished there was a more detailed map of the trails, but we eventually found them all-so many deer, bunnies, and a coyote. The one that leads to the river does not connect with any of the others, so know that when you attempt to locate it. We also didnât think the river would be great for swimming (very muddy/buggy), but had fun tying rubber ducks to strings and throwing them out for the grandkids. We especially liked the view from the end of the property over the valley. It was beautiful from sunset until it was dark. Then the fireflies came out and kept us busy. We loved the fire pit and made sâmores and roasted hot dogs. The lodge was a great place to eat dinner and watch movies together. The kitchen area in it looked to be for storage so we didnât use it, so maybe inquire about that being an option if you need it. We were grateful they allowed our two small dogs or we wouldnât have been able to stay. The location was great for getting to LU (50 min) and we loved the dark tunnel hike that was about a 35 minute drive. There was a grocery store not too far, also. Concierge was very helpful!
Only cons were misc. items left by the previous renters, and we really wished a dining table was in the cottage (there was room for one but only 2 stools at a counter). We hope to return!
