This was our second time and the property and we had four generations under one roof. This is an awesome property with serene settings and a house full of character!
Lovely Historic home that could use a good cleaning
The home, although a bit out of the way, was beautifully situated. Unfortunately, it was only superficially clean and really needed a proper scrubbing.
It was ok. One window had cardboard in it. Heat was off when we entered it was very cold and took a while to warm up and not enough washcloths for everyone. Bed was ok pillow was essentially flat.
Just wonderful third year weâve been here kinda a home away and very endearing with the art, books and the cows! Close to horse show. Hope to do number four next year.
It was amazing to have the privilege of being able to stay in a home that is this timeless. However with an 1850's home, there are some aspects that may not be what you're used to, especially the bathroom facilities. They were OK, but a renovation in that area would be welcome. The beds are all comfortable! Great internet, too. I loved just seeing all the antiques ... and the beautiful views. We weren't often at the house because we were in town for our daughters graduation. It's a unique experience to stay in this home!
Thank you very much. We had a very nice stay. We enjoyed the quietness and space. We saw a hot tub listed but didnât see it. We definitely stay again!
We were in town for our sons wedding. House comfortably accomodated my family for the weekend. Beautifully historically decorated. Fields next to house back up to a cow pasture.
Recommend for peaceful stay and those that like the historic setting.
Large balcony was perfect for star gazing and watching the cows. Beds were comfortable and place housed 8 adults comfortably. Host was pleasant and responsive.
We all enjoyed this charming house. Loved the atmosphere, the views, location. Grandkids enjoyed the trampoline and toy room; grandparents loved the back porch, books, farmer's market, visits to local sites, Lexington, Staunton. We'll be back!
We were there for a family reunion/Birthday celebration. The grounds are very cool. Beautiful views and a cow pasture right behind the house. There were so many cool finds in the house from antiques, to Old National Geographicâs and old books, to a ton of DVDs to watch on a rainy night.
I agree with some other reviews that the place needs an update (paint, doors that close - and open - my husband got stuck in the powder room, updated bathrooms, better AC and Wi-FiâŠ). But itâs an old house and full of charm and I think that out weighed the rest. Wendy is very quick to respond and that helped a lot with planning our trip.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay while in town for a horse seminar in Lexington. The house is beautiful & the views are spectacular! Feels like you step back in time & experience life as it was 100 years ago. The house was clean & communication with the host was excellent
We would love to visit again when we have more time to explore the area.
This was a terrible experience. We arrive to stay for two night. Only stayed one. Did not sleep in any of the bed rooms we as two of the rooms were in feasted with bugs. The women refused to stay. We had to make arrangements for them to stay with friend. We slept I. The TV room, the Tv did not by the way. It was an awful experience. Because we could not stay Saturday Night⊠being that everything in Lexington was booked up we had to cut our visit short
Wendy was great host communicating instructions to get into house and with a pamphlet describing the history behind her familyâs ownership of Jump Mountain. This house while large has seen better days. Lights didnât work and the house was dirty. The kitchen was small and very dated-even had a full size wash machine wedged between the sink and the oven. What made us very uneasy was the presence of several locked rooms with adjacent locked stairways that werenât really described to the renter and seemed strange. The bathrooms were not really adjacent to the bedrooms and were extremely inadequate. I love the countryside around Lexington and have stayed at several local homes and Wendy seemed very nice but we opted to stay in a Lexington hotel for the weekend. The outside of the house and location had great vistas as advertised. . I would suggest this house needs some work and updating before being put back on VRBO. Lexington, while close as the crow flies is, at best, a 40 minute drive to city center. We were really disappointed.
No sounds other than nature. The night sky is stunning without the interference of nearby lights. We had our morning coffee with the cows. It was all truly lovely.
