Very poor choice

Very poorly maintained. Felt dirty and shabby. My wife refused to stay there it was so distasteful. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. And in addition it was very close to the train tracks with freight trains running in rapid succession.

The room was dirty, and had not been cleaned since the last occupant at the advertised check-in time of 3:00. The curtain and air conditioner had mildew or mold on them. The sheets weren’t tucked in tight and had yellow stains under the pillows, making us wonder if they had been changed at all. Also, the room smelled of bug spray. We did not end up staying there, although the manager and staff were very nice anddid offer us a different room.

Bad carpet, good bed.

Room carpet was stained, looked dirty and old. Bed was clean & comfortable. Liked the white comforter - was easy top see dirt or stains on it(saw none). No bedbugs or dirt seen under mattress edges. Sink countertop looked clean, as did shower stall(didn't use it).

The location was ideal - that's the one thing this hotel has going for it. We attended an event on campus, and it was conveniently located across from the NIU stadium. However, we stayed on the first floor and our curtains were broken, so we were unable to close them and we spent the entire night flooded with lights from the building's exterior. The faucet's hot water didn't work, and the shower drain was missing its plug. I understand wear and tear and we didn't expect luxury. The deal breaker, though, was a safety issue. We returned from our event late at night and nobody was staffing the front desk. A man solicited my daughter and me in the lobby and we had to walk past him to reach our room. All in all this stay was an unnerving experience.

For the price it was ok. Beds were clean. However we checked in with 4 adults 1 child in a suite with 3 beds, 2 had linens, there was only 2 towels. Luckily we had beach towels and extra blankets for the child. Front desk was very friendly and breakfast was on par with other hotels. 1 night we could be ok.
