I booked this trip in March. Due to Hurricane Erin, our original booking (this one) had to be switched. Initially, I was grateful that Vacasa found another rental for us, even though it wasn’t right on the beach. I asked for a refund of the difference in price and was told the new rental was more expensive. There is no way what we were switched to cost more than this one! Upon check in, there was dirty bedding in the dining area and living room, no clean bedding or towels. We waited about 4 hours, our entire first evening, for bedding and towels in order to make our own beds. Next, a lady showed up our first morning there to feed the cats on the property put there “to keep down the rat population” as the lady shared. Day 3 we saw a roach (also pictured). I have been in contact with Vacasa and they are refusing any compensation stating that the bug pictured was probably a water bug. I disagreed and questioned why no compensation is being considered because the bug may not have been a roach and why none of the other issues are being addressed. I was informed they put in a ticket to another department and someone should reach out to me, but as it stands now, they are not willing to provide any compensation.

Bottom line up front: awesome house, terrible host company (Vacasa) that nickels and dimes you.The house is a great spot, room setups are great, porch is awesome, direct private access to the beach.The downside: Vacasa is a pain. Not enough towels in the home. One dish rag. No spqre trash bags, no trash bags in the bathrooms for small trash cans. Soap/shampoo/conditioner are all completely empty. What bath towels they do have are comically small. Floors were still pretty dirty with sand and dust. Also their customer service line is not American, which is frustrating, since they have to patch questions through to their onsite person, so very slow response and telephone game answers.If you’re booking this house, bring your own trash bags. Bring your own bath towels. Don’t expect soap and shampoo (even though it’s in VRBO’s terms and conditions). Bring your own vacuum. Bring your own dishwasher detergent.

Perfect location and amenities. The house had all of the amenities you need for a beach house and it is right on the beach with no fuzz or walk. The downstairs A/C was not working, but the property team was responsive and provided timely responses alternatives to get it fixed.

Outer Banks Perfection 2/22-2/28

Our week stay at Stillwater’s was in celebration of a 70th birthday. If we die tonight, we and our 2 Border Collies will have had the best last week of our lives. The upstairs and downstairs decks, and large sliding doors in the living/dining area, as well as the 2 largest bedrooms with large sliding doors, offered an unobstructed view of the sea. The home is warm and inviting and was immaculate upon arrival, equipped with everything we needed. The owners must have well researched the best materials and cloth for pets because cleanup was easy when it was time to leave. Vacasa did a great job in communicating about checkin and checkout.We had the seashore to ourselves during a sun-filled week when dolphin surfed and came up out of the water every day. The only thing we had not read about in the reviews that might be helpful for some people less ambulatory is the fact of 3 1/2 flights of steps from the driveway to the fridge. This home is truly a special gem; one of the best slices of heaven on earth!

Perfect Start to Summer

Our family LOVED our stay. It was quiet, except for the sound of the surf, which was heaven and the neighbors we quiet and friendly. This location was exactly as shown in the listing. The beds were very comfortable. We don’t care for eating out and this place had a well stocked kitchen. We had everything we needed to cook whatever we wanted. We have been looking for a beach vacation area that is not crowded with amusements and “tourist trap” areas. We just wanted peace, quiet, the beach/ocean, and time to spend with each other. This was it!! We all fell in love with OBX (including our doggie). New vacation spot located. 😁

Like a ship by the sea!

This home is a nature lover’s paradise located right between pea island and the national seashore! Sunrise on the beach and sunsets over the sound, check out the Salvo day use area for prime viewing less than 10 min down the road! Kitchen is well equipped and our pup made himself right at home.

Location can’t be beat

We had a great stay at Stillwaters. The ocean front view can’t be beat. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean’s waves coming in through the open doors leading out to the deck with a beautiful ocean view was amazing. The top deck off the living area offered an even better view. The house was very comfortable for the six of us, including 3 teenage boys. We always stay on Hatteras because we love to get away from the bustle of the northern towns and just have some peace. The kitchen had seemingly everything you could possibly need to cook a feast at first, but we realized it was missing some basic things like potholders, dishwasher soap and garbage bags (you get only the bad that is there when you arrive) which was kind of strange. Keep in mind you will need to bring or purchase literally anything you would need to cook. Even salt and pepper. There is a coffee maker that takes grounds or pods, no coffee is provided. This is not a complaint, just a heads up. You are also expected to vacuum and sweep before you leave which I find very off putting since we pay a pretty good cleaning fee. The floor was a little sandy when we arrived and I’m guessing that’s because it was left to previous tenants. All in all though we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Perfect long weekend in Rodanthe!!

Beautiful home, well stocked kitchen, wonderful views, convenient to beach and Pea Island for the Wings over Water festival. Beds very comfortable. Communication with VACASA was efficient and helpful via text. Highly recommend this property!! Will be back!

The hot water failed and I contacted Vacasa. I was told to expect communication and help to remedy the problem. After waiting all day, I called Vacasa again , and they said they would contact the local office - and that I should update them in 1 hour. No one came and I reported this after one hour. Very bad maintenance help...

Great place!

Really loved this location and the house! It was dog friendly and Vacasa (the property managing company) we’re super easy to work with and gave me no problems or fuss when my guests required service animals! The house was better in person and the views were great. The path to get beach access is right outside and the other neighbors were very friendly. Lots of people fishing, so seems like a popular spot for that as well. Also like the location of this house being basically beach front, without actually being in the water like many other NC properties - so we felt safe. Washer and dryer on site right by the bedrooms and front door is great. And the kitchen is a little outdated, but everything else makes up for it. Also rooms are a bit small, but you get large beds and TVs in there as well. Only downside I’d say is the tv in one of the queen rooms and the upstairs living room were really outdated and it was hard to navigate the TVs. The tv in the king bedroom was fine.

A great place with a wonderful view

Our group of three adults and three children and one dog thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for our five night stay. There were a couple of items that needed minor repair, but overall the amenities and the provisions were quite satisfactory. The location relative to the beach was superb. I would highly recommend this property for a family vacation, and there is no question that we will definitely consider a return visit in the future.
