For the price, this is a good hotel when visiting Rome. It is in an ideal location and not too far walking to the Repubblica station. It can be a bit noisy, as the sound-proofing isn't the best, and the hotel is on a main street with a lot of traffic.
There were a few hiccups, however. Upon arriving, my room door's automatic lock did not seemingly work. I alerted the front desk. It did take about 15 minutes to have someone finally come check the door, reinstall a new battery pack for the lock, only for the staff member to realize the issue was not mechanical; the door required strong force (slamming shut) to engage the automatic lock. Thus, I couldn't effectively settle into my room after flying 12+ hours. I don't blame the hotel for this issue, as it was resolved. But it could have been avoided if they were more familiar with the quirks of that room's door.
In addition, on one day the power went out in the hotel for 10 minutes without warning. I had to ask a maid, who then had to call down to the front desk to relay a message that "they were conducting brief maintenance."
Otherwise, the front desk was generally helpful. I did not use the hotel's facilities, so I can't comment on those. I did have a great experience booking an airport transfer (be sure to read the rules and book 24-hours in advance). Would I stay here again? Perhaps. There are many hotels in this area, some that are mid- to -upscale. I would be curious how they compare to Hotel 77.
