The Apple Store is a self contained annexe to 'Old Kiln House', which is an 18th century farmhouse and cider orchard. Situated on 'Great Doward, a hill of mixed farm and woodland set in the lower Wye Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the property has extensive views across the Wye Valley. Numerous excellent walks begin right from the doorstep and King Arthur's Cave can be seen and easily visited from the Apple Store. The old barn and outbuilding have recently been restored to provide comfort and modern convenience in an idyllic rural setting.

Goede routebeschrijving, huisje was gemakkelijk te vinden. Werden hartelijk welkom geheten door de eigenaar. Gelijk wat tips gekregen vwb locaties voor boodschappen. Monmouth en Ross-on-Wye dichtbij gelegen grote plaatsen.Cottage was heerlijk voorverwarmd vanwege het toch wat koele weer. Al met al een fijn huisje in een prettige omgeving.

The Apple Store is in a beautiful location. Some good things about this cottage include the cosy sitting room with comfortable seating. It is also warm and clean, tastefully furnished with some lovely touches. Main bedroom was comfortable. Light comes in through skylight, which has a blackout blind, and a low window, which needs heavier curtains to keep out light. The kitchen, whilst well equipped, was not a room where you wanted to sit for long due to the fact that it was dark. A lancet window let light in, but this was the only natural light. The only other window was opaque and opened onto dark woodshed. There is no view from kitchen unless you peer through the lancet window. The second bedroom was directly above the kitchen and so had the same windows and lack of light. The lancet window here was up high and so no view was possible. We climbed on a chair to place pillows in this window to block the morning light. We felt that the information about the cottage should have mentioned the restricted views and the lack of natural light in both kitchen and second bedroom. It was pleasant to sit outside and have breakfast. Very private. It was lovely to see and hear flock of sheep enjoying the pasture and a delight to hear the birdsong.The Apple Store was perfectly situated for walks in the local woodland. and nature reserve and it was close to some ancient caves. We were fortunate to be there in the bluebell season. Stunning.

A lovely very well appointed cottage with off road parking in the Wye Valley. Beautiful woodland and river walks straight from the front door. Only a 10 minute drive away from Monmouth.

Lovely, welcoming hosts and on hand for any advice. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of space for a family of 4. Ideal for local walks with peaceful and relaxing scenery. Short drive to nearby towns with many restaurants, pubs etc. Our kids adored Taylor - the friendliest sheep we’ve ever met!

Cosy, quiet and clean. What's not to like about a short stay at the Apple Store. Throw in semi tame sheep who like their ears beings stroked and a sun trap even in November and you have the perfect get away for a weekend in the countryside. We will be back.

An excellent two storey cottage, rather larger than pictures suggest. Very clean, well presented and comfortable in a beautiful location. The kitchen was well equipped with thoughtful touches that made self-catering very easy. Attractive garden with outside seating and lovely views. Bedrooms surprisingly spacious with good hanging space. Clear and regular contact withe delightful hosts made for an enjoyable stay

The property was very clean, had modern appliances which all worked well and plenty of information on local attractions, walks, restaurants etc. It had a very nice garden area for sitting out in this peaceful location which was near to local towns and walking areas. We had a great time there.

Lovely spot

The house is in a really beautiful spot with a great view from the garden and had everything we needed. The hosts were friendly, responsive and helpful. The only reasons for not giving five stars are that as a taller person the double bed is quite short. Also due to its former use as an apple store there isn't much natural light that comes into the house at all. The surroundings are stunning though and it's an excellent base to explore the Wye Valley with great walks from the doorstep. We had an enjoyable week!
