The Aorangi Peak Cabins 4 by Tiny Away is a cozy 139-square-foot tiny home in Rotorua, just an hour's drive from Tauranga. Its unique selling points include breathtaking views and a variety of food options.
This charming countryside retreat is conveniently located near the geothermal wonders of Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, traditional Māori performances at Te Puia, the majestic Redwood Whakarewarewa Forest, and the serene shores of Lake Rotorua.
Experience the unique spirit of Rotorua—one of the world’s top 50 destinations—at this tranquil getaway. All with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas-heated for hot showers).

Local highlights include Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, Te Puia, Redwood Whakarewarewa Forest, Lake Rotorua, and Polynesian Spa. Each location offers a different way to experience the area. They range from geothermal sites and cultural landmarks to lakeside views and forest trails. Perfect for building your own mix of nature, culture, and relaxation.
Getting Around:
By car:
- From Rotorua city center, it’s a 15-minute drive, approximately 13km.
- From Taupo, it’s a drive of 1 hour, approximately 80km.
- From Tauranga, it’s a 1-hour drive, approximately 70km.
- From Hamilton, it’s a 1 hour and 45-minute drive, approximately 110km.
- All routes are accessible by both 2WD and 4WD.
By public transport:
- From Rotorua city center, take the local bus service to Ngongotaha or a nearby stop. We can arrange a pick-up from the closest bus stop.
- If you're coming from Christchurch to Rotorua via Auckland, follow these steps:
- Flight from Christchurch to Rotorua: Start by booking a flight from Christchurch International Airport (CHC) to Rotorua Regional Airport (ROT). The flight duration is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
Travel from Rotorua Airport to the address:
- Rent a Car: Renting a car provides the flexibility to explore Rotorua and the surrounding areas. The address is about 20 kilometers from the airport, and the drive takes approximately 20-25 minutes.
- Public Transport: While there are buses in Rotorua, direct services to Mountain Road may not be available. Consider using a combination of bus and taxi services for convenience.
- Route: From Rotorua Airport, take Te Ngae Road and continue onto State Highway 30A. Follow the signs for Ngongotaha, then take Mountain Road to reach the address. The journey offers stunning views of Rotorua’s geothermal activity and the lush, green countryside.
This route allows you to experience the geothermal wonders of Rotorua along with the tranquil natural beauty of New Zealand's North Island.

- Pets are not allowed.
- Smoking is prohibited.
- The water is safe to drink.
- Unregistered guests or visitors are not permitted.
- Longer stays or late check-outs without prior confirmation will incur an additional charge.
- Mobile reception is good for Vodafone, 2degrees, and Spark. However, Telstra and Optus have no signal.
WIFI DETAILS: Starlink powers the Wi-Fi, and while the connection can occasionally fluctuate, it’s pretty fast when working well. Here’s to smooth browsing.
