Communication with host (Cathi) was prompt and helpful--excellent! Cabin was very well equipped and well stocked with linens and papergoods. The cabin grounds were well kept---wild flowers, wildlife, sound of river were amazing. Great location--a quick drive to town. The clean-up from flood devastation, fires is ongoing and upon completion will be a real paradise again.
"The property is wonderful, very pleasant and cozy. Itâs ideal for a peaceful stay for a small family like ours. Itâs nestled right in the forest, which allows you to experience wildlife up close. Every detail was very well taken care of and provided, and the owner was attentive to notifications and important information via message whenever we needed it. Without a doubt, itâs worth escaping to the mountains, with a location very close to the river and the peace of nature that the city canât offer."
We actually ended up staying at the Cabin in the Sky on this trip. It's a larger cabin but just as cozy and comfortable as the smaller one in Upper Canyon. The host is amazing--she is very communicative and has ensured that the cabin has everything you might need. The location is great--the cabin is very close to Midtown, Grindstone Lake, the Cedar Creek trails, restaurants, and more. My favorite part was the large screened in porch and deck. When we weren't out and about, I spent most of my time sitting on the porch enjoying the amazing weather and the birds!
Perfect trip to get out of the rat race and relax. The cabin was charming and stocked with absolutely everything anyone would need. My favorite part was having coffee on the screened in back porch in the mornings and seeing and hearing all the birds sing. While there we saw so much wildlife - deer, elk (with baby) and a black bear with her 3 cubs. Also, communication with the owner was great!
Much needed vacation in the mountains. The cabin was beautiful and everything you need. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again in future.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is an awesome cabin and location. We saw wild horses, elk, deer and heard turkeys. Cathi is amazing and very attentive. We highly recommend this cabin and we will totally be back!
I was incredibly comfortable in this quaint cottage. It was exceptionally well stocked, the location is lovely, and communication with the owner was very easy. Definitely planning on returning!
Starting 2025 off in New Mexico relaxing, visiting from Oklahoma! We enjoyed our stay at the cabin so much! It was easy to find, charming, and home like. I've never stayed at a cabin that was SSOOO accommodating (crock pot, spices, condiments, detergent, etc.)! I bought groceries and when not skiing/shopping/or out for dinner, we were hanging out at the cabin. Our 7 year old felt like it was home away from home. We saw Elk, Deer, and Wild Horses in the neighborhood! This was much needed time relaxing as a family. I could tell through our very limited interactions that the Chambers are great people, very kind and generous. Thank you for making this experience one we will not forget! Blessings and best wishes in 2025!The Babb Family
This is our favorite little cabin in Ruidoso! Weâve stayed numerous times and have yet to be disappointed. We are so thankful it survived all of the tragedies this past summer.
It was a lovely, private place. Comfortable and cozy. The host was incredibly helpful and easy to communicate with. We would definitely recommend the property and would stay again myself.
It was quite a wonderful stay. Beautiful scenery, absolutely love all the colors changing now that its fall. Ruidoso is our go to and we love it every time. Our host was gracious and very communicative with us throughout the trip. Can't wait till our next trip!
The cabin was perfect and the area was beautiful. There was alot to do and the people of Ruidosa were so friendly. We will be back. Our hosts were so nice and accommodating.
The hostess is fabulous, and thinks of everything you might need. She is also very responsive and polite. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The front and back porches offered a beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable start and end to the day. Being in the Upper Canyon the temperature is mild during the day, and cool during the evenings. Will definitely revisit in the future.
It is entirely possible that our expectations for this property were unreasonably high, so how did it manage to exceed them? The location is phenomenal- a canyon cabin at the base of a wilderness area, surrounded by properties that have been in the same families for generations. There is a real sense of community if you choose to engage with others, but equally a sense of privacy & solitude when that is what you prefer.
The LOVE that the Crawfords have for this cabin is so evident & the work they have done to restore and maintain it is impressive.
The entire back of the property opens to a wilderness area full of deer, turkey, elk & wild horses. If you are a bird nerd (like me) I can happily say I saw several that were first time views here AND even got to hear a short bit of Western Whippoorwill song. It was magical.
We didnât spend a ton of time inside because outside you have an elevated deck with a terrific view of the surrounds, a hot tub (which we didnât get to use THIS time) & a screened in porch that connects to the bedroom. But the inside is very comfortable and VERY cozy with big beautiful windows all the way around, a lovely bed and a nicely updated kitchen.
Apparently I only have 1500 characters to wrap this up SO- Cindi is an incredibly gracious host, the property is as close to perfect as I believe possible and you should stop reading this & book it for yourself. It is hands down one of our favorite places weâve ever stayed & we canât wait to come back! â€ïž
This quiet, secluded interlude was perfect for us. Cozy with everything we needed. And on our last day God even sent us a small herd of deer out the kitchen window, Big Daddy, just as our host said! Thank you for this beautiful memory.
It was a great place to stay, but you cannot just walk across to the river. There are homes all around; so it's private property. You have to drive out to the trails. I contacted the owner about hiking from their back yard, but never heard from them. Place was cute. Bathroom was tiny, tub had dead bugs in it. And the shelves, fixtures were dusty which set off my allergies. The hot tub was a plus.
Cathi is lovely and the property is amazing!!! Fantastic check in and check out process, she was always just a text away if we needed anything, and she even left us a sweet gift for our wedding! 10/10 will return.
