Came into town to spend time with our son, perfect area. Hostess was very sweet. Quiet and relaxing close to the restaurant the Dusty mule that has best burgers ever! And very close to gold bug hot springs for an early morning hike. Will definitely book again.
The property was really nice. The only problem was the King Size bed, it was horrible. The mattress was cheap and hard. The bed frame was cheap too. The legs supporting the mattress were collapsing. My husband slept in that bed, I slept on the fold out couch. Thats my only complaint. I think if your going to have a place for guests to sleep you might want to spend a bit for comfort. Other than that it is a great place to stay. I called VRBO on day 2 and told them about the bed. I have pictures too.
Beautiful location and a great place to fish. Five-minute drive to the Goldbug hot springs and 23 minutes to downtown Salmon. A fun house to stay at with plenty of room for 5 people. I will say it could of used a deep clean.
With a long 4-day weekend on the calendar, we looked for a place we hadn't been to that wasn't too far. This was it! Elk Bend is a small community between Challis and Salmon. The town doesn't have a lot of ammenities, so come prepared with what you need or plan a commute to the Saveway in Salmon. The only restaurant in town--the Dusty Mule--had great burgers and the half plate of Nachos was enough for 3-4 (We took half home). The home is exceptionally clean with hardwood floors throughout. It is very dog friendly (but the one side fence is not there so don't plan to leave your friend in the yard unescorted). We were very comfortable and felt at home for the entire stay. One day was a trip to see Salmon, another a jeep trail and hike "Into the Salmon Forest" and the third day was a trip up to the Montana line and off roading and hiking on the Gibbons Pass Trail. It was a relaxing weekend! We only used the one bedroom with the king bed but both bathrooms were very nice for each of us to settle in with our stuff. The kitchen is well stocked, and when the coffeemaker decided to not work the first morning, the hosts had a replacement there within a couple hours. The kitchen had an air fryer, but nothing to cook rice in other than a stovetop pot. The back porch overlooks the Salmon River and there is a fire pit with four chairs that can be pulled off the porch to surround the pit for a relaxing evening enjoying the view. River has steelhead ready to catch for dinner.
This is a great spot for fishing with friends. We caught fish right out the back door. The yard is mostly fenced so we were able to bring our dog. The Dusty Mule up the street is a great little local bar. Property is excatly what it appears to be online and Linda was very responsive and helpful!
Our son is working in Salmon, Idaho and we rented this Riverfront home to visit him and explore Idaho. It was a great location between sawtooth and salmon. Both were fun spots to visit. Home was very comfortable. The kitchen dining room and living room was a great area for us to spend time together at night. We enjoyed hiking in sawtooth as well as hiking Goldbug and visiting Wilkins Lake. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
Linda was very helpful and great to work with. The river was a great backdrop and beautiful scene to have out back. Enjoyed the hike to Goldberg hot springs. Nice stay but it was a little hard to cool the place off at night.
We had a great time. The yard and river were great. Goldbug is a great hike and Salmon also has good hiking and is a nice town. House is clean and well taken care of and the hosts are very nice and receptive. My wife did see some cobwebs in some corners so that freaked her out but other than that very clean and a great place to stay.
