This was our 20th anniversary trip. The room and pool were lovely but the rest were disappointing. We cancelled dinner reservations at another location when we looked online and saw how lovely the hotel restaurant was. It wasn’t until we were seated, that we were told the kitchen was actually down and not serving food. Therefore, we had to find another place to eat. The ice machine on our floor was out of service. The next morning we woke up to use the swimming pool. All of the towels were used from the day before and not replaced. We went back up to our room to order a room service only to find out the kitchen was still out of service. We asked what time checkout was and were till 12 PM. At 11:10 AM, there is a knock on our door for maid service. at that point we just decided to check out and leave and find someplace else to eat. It took about 15 minutes to receive our vehicle in valet parking. When we receive our car, all of my settings had been tampered with including my digital display, my AC settings, my stereo. we never use the vehicle after we checked in and we only stayed one night. As lovely as the room was, we will not be back here.

⸻ I only stayed one night at Hotel Contessa, and overall it was a great experience. The location on the River Walk is perfect, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. Fast Eddie in valet deserves a big shoutout – he was quick, helpful, and super friendly. He made getting in and out a breeze, which I really appreciated. The only downside was the pool area – the water was a little foggy and the cushions looked a bit worn. Nothing major, but worth mentioning. Overall, I’d definitely stay here again when I’m back in San Antonio.

The Good. •The lobby and hotel in general looks modern and elegant. •Easy access from the lobby directly out to the waterway. •Short walk away from one of my favorite restaurants (salt grass). •At the check in counter we were greeted by a gentleman that was friendly and helpful. • The room was clean and so was the shower/ restroom. The bad. •The first room they set us up with 713, Smelled like mold. When I looked at the ac vents in both the room and living room area. You could visibly see black mold spots. The smell was very present and hard to ignore. When I went down to the check in counter. They offered me to check out another room 313 which smelled just about the same. They offered us another room I believe it was 701 and we could tell a significant difference in smell. The ac vents still had mold spots but the room wasn’t lingering with smell of mold. Luckily our stay was only for night as this was a spontaneous weekend trip from Houston to San Antonio. • Paying for valet stinks but all of the hotels in the downtown area charge for it so if you really want the views, convenience, experience of staying downtown. Prepare to pay $53

This hotel’s first impression online was its location and it looked clean. It also has good reviews. When you get there, the driveway was full and congested with cars. The garage to valet the car is across the street. Also, someone must of paid extra to leave there huge truck in the driveway and has causing problems too. When walking into the hotel, the smell was nauseating with some strong room spray. The lobby, elevator was overwhelming with strong cheap cologne smell. The room was nice, not my taste but, it was good. They say the rooms have been recently remodeled, but don’t think they upgraded the bathroom. All in all the room was fine. My room was in the 11th floor street side. The first night was very loud with Saturday night people parting and couldn’t sleep until midnight. The other nights where quite. Location is good, staff were super nice, just need to stop spraying the horrible perfume in the lobby and the car situation a little smoother. The car attendant were great and doing there best. Would I stay there again, only if they stop spraying the lobby.
