We stayed at La Pensione for three nights on a short trip in San Diego. The location is fabulous in Little Italy with an extensive range of restaurants on the doorstep. We walked to all the places we wanted to visit in our two days, the ferry to take us to Coronado, the Maritime Museum in the Harbour and the gorgeous Balboa Park and San Diego Zoo. It couldn't have been better located for our stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable, we had a balcony room which was great, adding more space and a view over the buzzing Street scene for our three nights. Whilst busy during the evenings the area was reasonably quiet after the restaurants closed.
Our gripe was the lack of tea and coffee making facilities for the rooms. Although hot water was available in the conference room in the mornings there was no black tea, no coffee and no milk for two of the mornings. A simple thing but it would have made a big difference to how we felt about our stay.
Would we stay again? Possibly, but tea and coffee please.
Difficult to select a better location for a stay in San Diego. You are close to everything and you can even walk to all attractions from the hotel, the San Diego zoo would be a 40 min walk but everything else is 20 to 30 min walk.Little Italy is very lively with excellent restaurants 2 min walk from the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was very small and only had 1 elevator for the entire property. The air conditioner did not initially work and after the front desk fixed it, it still did not go under 68 degrees so the room was overly warm. The worst part was no parking offered- the lot across was also full so we had to park blocks away and take an uber back to the hotel. The overall location is nice and in the middle of little Italy but I would not stay in this particular hotel again- especially for the price
Too small. air conditioner dirty and didnt work well made noises.
Way too expensive for these conditions
Room dreary and felt like something you might find in a hotel 6..
Very disappointed.. homeless person out front smothered in feces and urine. Glad it was only one night
Cute small hotel located in the middle of little Italy. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance and a farmers market right outside the front door on the weekend. Keep in mind if their parking lot gets full youâll have to pay a little more and park across the street. Plus reception said their parking lot is small so no large vehicles would fit.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room while small met my needs for a conference I attended. I enjoyed being right in the center of all the activity and stepping right into the Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday. It was noisy on these days- especially in the mornings during set up and weekend nights could be noisy as well but Iâm not a light sleeper so it didnât bother me. Overall a great stay and would stay here again.
