Family of 4. Stayed 1 night in a family room with private bathroom and it was perfect, even better than we thought. Very well located 10 min walk to the beach and 5 min walk to bus station to go to the city center. Would definitely recommend.
This is a hostel mainly for young proper as hostels usually are for. People coming in to the dormitory in the night talking and laughing loud. I was in a dormitory of 6 beds only for women. It was very small and the floor was crowded with big luggages even if there was a smaller box ( you need a locker) for your things. The bed was without curtain or anything like. The bathroom area was also very small. I have been to hostels more convenient than this one. And the price for one night was around 100 Euro!
Kontiki Tours and kids at a sport camp overwhelmed the hostel. Some staff were helpful, some moody. The beds offered little privacy, and the rooms were tight. The patio was unavailable for some reason - or reserved for the bus tour. The location is up a hill, but the parts with views have no chairs or social amenties.
The hostel had a privacy data leak and was used in a phishing scam. When I asked for a refund since I didn't trust them after my data was leaked, they refused. I booked a different hotel. Be careful booking with them.
We booked a complete room for 4 adults, immediately checked with hotel to make sure we had a private bathroom since we were traveling with my elderly parents, a private bathroom was all we cared about, they confirmed that the bathroom was inside but when checking in later that night, the bathroom was shared with other rooms and when we called to complain about it, they just said that the case was being reviewed but didn't answer until 72 hours later and they denied our claim. Not going back there and not recommending it to anyone with a family.
Really nice hostel. Clean and modern. Each bed has a lamp, plug sockets and a small space to store a couple of items. Stayed in the 8 bed dorm which was more spacious than the 6 bed dorm. Breakfast was basic - bread, cereal, tea, coffee, juice but included so can't complain.
Close to Ondretta beach (5 min walk) and 30 min walk to Old Town. Preferred Ondreatta beach as it was a bit quieter and sand better. A few places to eat and drink in the area as well.
Only thing that lets the hostel down is that there wasn't much of a social atmosphere. Mainly groups of friends and couples staying there and you would hardly see anyone at the bar. Still managed to meet a few people but not as social as I was expecting. Would be good if the hostel organised activities. So definitely not a party hostel but good if you want relaxed and chilled out.
Overall I'd say I enjoyed it.
We were a group of 8 traveling together and walking the camino del Norte. This is on the other side of San SebastiĂĄn so added several km to an already long hike...in addition the check in process is the worst I've ever experienced. It took us 2 hours + as there is no person at the front desk to help. I was literally standing at an intercom with 7 others waiting for almost 2 hours! there has to be a more accessible way for those on the go to not have to enter every person' information. A front desk person would make this a much more pleasant experience. Otherwise it was miserable.
